| |  The sooner the better. We use a crate with Tara. She has been brought up in it. She has never messed in it. If you do not use a crate, then do not let them have water before you put them to bed. We took her out as soon as she woke up, after playing, and especially after eating. At 8 weeks of age, I took her out every 2 hours. It is much easier when you don't work.
