How old was your child when you put them in a twin bed?

My daughter was about 1.5 years old. She was too big for the crib and I wasn't wasting money in buying a little toddler bed. I stuck her in a twin bed with no guard rail and said, see you in the morning. She fell out of bed a few times and then learned to not sleep so close to the edge. She did just fine within a few days. She wouldn't get out of bed unless I gave her the okay. She is 5 and still won't get out of bed to get something across the room without asking me first.

for my daughter's second birthday she got her big girl bed. i had put a bedrail on the bed for about 4 months after that i took it off and she was fine in her big bed. my daughter is 3 and does the same. she won't come out of bed, she waits for me to open her door in the morning for her to come out.
