What i know about this is this... the egg cell was fertilized. Usually when it is fertilized it goes down through the fallopian tube to the womb. There are times that the egg doesn't make it to the womb. It stops at the fallopian tube. The egg will continue to grow, however, this type of pregnancy is very very very dangerous. That's 3 'very's to stress how dangerous it is. The fetus, if it develops further will not survive. And if the mother does not get treatment for it, the mother will also not survive. I'm not a doctor, i just remember reporting about it in high school.

That is a tubal pregnancy. An ectopic is when the egg attaches to the outside of the uterus.

My bad...here is what the encyclopedia says: Ectopic pregnancy is when the egg implants itself outside the uterus. Most often in the fallopian tubes but this can also occur in the cervix, ovaries and abdomen. Hope this clears it all up. :)

i was told the cause of ectopic pregnancy is primarily stress. in my experience, i didn't know i was pregnant so i carried on with my daily routine and had tons of stress at work and elsewhere. plus the fact that i needed to ride four different vehicles (and riding public transportation in our Philippines is a huge stress). i started bleeding but i thought it was just menstruation. until i felt the pain, it was like unbearable pain. it was about 7-8 weeks

This is where the fertilised egg has embedded in the fallopian tubes. The pregnancy has to be terminated. There is no way to save it. If it is not the mother could die. Sometimes they lose the fallopian tube due to the damage caused by this. It is very painful and can be accompanied by bleeding.
