Computer Monitor Effect To Our Eyesight

I been in computer related work for a long time now. I used to stare at my monitor the whole day except for few breaks. Lately, I'm having a hard time recognizing a person's face 10-15 ft. away. My friends started to get an impression that I'm a snub especially our new employees everytime we meet. Hope I can get your opinions if its really the cause of my blurding eyesight and your recommendations to prevent it. Thanks!
