Per the Bible, if you get divorced and remarried, it's called adultery?

What about if you get divorced and you didn't want to be but your spouse just left you, and then a few years later you got remarried? Does that mean the second wife doesn't mean anything? My husband was married to his high school sweetheart. One day he came home to a Dear John letter, she was leaving the marriage to find herself. After a divorce (that he didn't want) he dated a bit then met me. We married. Does that mean that he is committing adultery on his first wife? What is a person supposed to do in this case to be right with God? I don't think it's fair for me as his second wife. Aren't I important?

No, he is not committing adultery in this case. Look up 1 Cor 7:15 it says "But if the unbeliver leaves, let him do so. A believing man or women is not bound in such circumtances. God has called us to live in peace." Even if he would have agreed to the divorce, it is imporant to remeber our God is a forgiving loving God. So as long as we repent, God will forgive us. Hope this helps...Lew

i am sorry if my response is out of topic but what i want to tell you there is no such thing in Islam,..the quran never said such thing to you. It's not the mistake of the second wife at all...and neither the husband....I have heard the same thing with the chinese peoples..she was teaching with me at a chinese secondary school before i get enrolled to the after degree course...My friend said that she can't get he husband name for her kids because she is the second wife of the husband. But the husband did not divorce,..the first wife was killed actually...i think the problem is same here...i still don't understand with this thing...

You are important just like everybody in the eyes of God. What you said is true. It is adultery. in the new testament, one can commit adultery by thinking malicious thoughts. Don't worry, God forgives and forgets as long as you accept it and be sorry about it. What is important is that you love one another. God bless
