My XP Home seems to be running smoother (and faster) the last few days without me doing anything. Can XP Home repair itself (or learn new file locations after a defrag)? I'm enabled for automatic Windows updates.

I think it's run more better after your XP updated system without you know. defrag can also help your computer run more faster and stable.

I think the update for xp completely available with original version of xp .If your xp is original than there must be some updates from microsoft .Also i think defragmenting your hdd results into best speed .Cleaning the prefetch in window folder also increase speed for programs in XP .
