It is unbelievable that there are so many sequals out there. The people i have spoken to are kind of split about that. Some love the sequals while others think there are too many .It seems like a movie only has to make a little money then the next thing you know there is a sequal out. What do you think ? Are there too many out there? So you think the sequals are better than the originals?

I definitely feel there are too many movie sequels. For the most part, sequels are not as good as the original movie. It gets tiring seeing all of these sequels and would like to see more creativity on the directors parts. Many movies have no business having sequels. When one movie makes a lot of money, movie makers feel they can make more by making another one. I am looking forward to Spiderman 3 in May and the Fantastic Four sequel.

I agree with you. I really wish Hollywood would be more creative and stop making movies that don't really need to be made into sequals. I am also looking forward to Spiderman and the Fantastic 4 sequals and hopefully Hollywood will have done some creativity with them

Twenty or thirty years ago sequels were a dirty word in the movie industry. It was a shameful way to take a movie that did well and extract more money from the general populace by essentially making another movie that is the same as the first one.
That started to change though when it became highly profitable to make sequels. Plato suggested that drama is best when done in 3's as it allows for a good story arc and character devolpment before the final resoultion of the third act, play, book, movie etc.
In the present day, sequels make more money than a new picture in most cases as it already has a fan base. The movie franchises generally pick up steam as more and more movies roll out.
This will continue until it is no longer profitable. When people stop going to the sequels, they will stop being made.
Personally, I am split on the sequels. Some movies and themes lend themselves to having several movies made. Like the Spiderman/Xmen, Pirates, 007's, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter's of the world.
Rocky 7 however I could live without. It's a fine line that will ultimately be desided by you and I and which movies we choose to spend our money on.

the audience infuriates me all time.they complain about too many sequels then go see them all the time. I am not satisfied with most.Aliens was one I liked better than the first movie. Now as for the other alien sequels yuck is the word

Yes, for sure. It's an over kill after awhile. I suppose they just want to make money the easy way, so they do that. I like the original ones the best.

Making movies is done to make money, and if you have a good idea that is working then go for it. I am eagerly awaiting the third Pirates movie as well as Spiderman and Shrek. he trick is to know when your idea has run its course and not overplay your hand.

It's not that i am against sequals per se,it's just that Hollywood doesn't seem to have any imaginiation anymore and what I really hate is that they don't seem to know enough is enough
