How do you introduce God to your kids? |
|
I have a 1.5yo daughter who we always bring to church since she was 1month old. We mention God when she recognizes anything from nature. It's just great to hear her say.... "Mommy, Stars! Wow! God!" How do you do it?

1. shinobi (331) | 2 years ago | That's very wonderful! I was also brought up by my parents with fear in God. I can still remember the time when my mom always bring me to church gatherings and activities when i was small, and that further led me to discover the Church of God International where i found the true teachings based on the Bible.

| 3. kitkat_ofiana (24) | 2 years ago | that's great. since i have a 3 months old baby, we bring her to church since week 2 then we always let her listen to baby praise songs. As she grows old, teach and be a good example to her, teach her the values from the bible. As soon as she can understand, pray with her at night.

She can recognize Jesus anywhere. Just like on the Feast of Nazarene, it is always featured on tv, she said 'Jesus' and when she saw the candles inside the church, she said 'happy birthday'. hehehe

5. kitakitts (150) | 2 years ago | personally, i don't think its practical to bring my 8mo old baby when hearing mass. she's too young to understand such sacrament and most often either i can't focus on what the priest is saying or she provides unnecesary distraction to others. probably when she asks where things came from then it'll be a perfect time to talk about God. Another chance would be when she's old enough to include a goodnight prayer in her bedtime routine:)

My oldest daughter went to Sunday school, and she attends a religous school where they do have religious studies. My younger daughter learns from her for now, but she will also be attending the school this coming September. My children are free to pray to the God that they learn about, as they are their own people and will make their own decisions on that. I have no problems with her believing something different from my own beliefs and would never teach her any different at her age. When she is older if she asks, I will tell her, but for now she enjoys what she is taught. I also buy them religious books to learn from, as I remember how much I used to love my Sunday school classes etc.

7. yanple (131) | 2 years ago | we always hear mass every Sunday. i always let him pray every night. he now knows the sign of the cross. and his Lolo always bring him to the nearby chapel in the afternoon. actually, my son is the one who always wants to go to the chapel. then he'll always do the sign of the cross whenever he sees "God". in time, i'll try to explain to him that all good things here on earth are from Him. and hope he'll soon understand.

8. clod0327 (774) | 2 years ago | Wow that's a wonderful story. How I wish my baby can talk already. We also bring our daugther with us everytime we hear mass. We let her get close to the statues inside the church and we let her know that it is Jesus & Mary. We also pray everytime we go to bed. So now if she sees either a statue of Mary & Jesus, and we ask her to pray, she would lift her hands (like she was praising God) and she will start to mumble words. Maybe, as she grows up we will start to explain to her more about God and about our religion.

10. Jshean20 (8060) | 2 years ago | Well when I was a little girl my parents would take me to church sometimes and when I was about 5 years old I started attending Sunday school. I remember that I was really interested to learn things but had a difficult time paying attention because the kids in my class weren't very well behaved and the teacher had a very tough time conroling everyone. I remember my favorite part of Sunday School was when we would sing songs before going home, sometimes we'd even put on little concerts for the church.
