What will you do with your flowers.......

Valentine's day is over and I am sure that many had gotten flowers from their love ones. I got a dozen long stem red roses from my husband and it is in a vase at my dining table. I am contemplating of drying them so I can make a decoration out of them, or saving the petals and putting fragrance on it or just bring it to church and put it in the altar. Valentine's or other special occasion...what do you usually do with the flowers you receive? Just wait for it to start wilting...then dump it or you have other things in mind for them?

i haven't received roses this valentine's day since my boyfriend is away from me. but last year, he always sends me roses through friendster flowers delivery. but when it was gone, it's difficult to find an online flower shop anymore to have roses delivered. but i did have fun with him online and on the phone on valentine's day. and i guess he sent me something which haven't arrived on time. a little late maybe. funny postal system we have, huh? well, the roses he sent me before, i always put them in a vase and i always get to smile whenever i see the roses. they remind me of him. and when they are starting to wilt, i have them pressed in between pages of a thick book so i can have them in an album later. plus i always save the small cards attached to the roses.

i don't usually have the on registered or priority. but it always arrived on time for my boyfriend. the problem is when he sends things to me, it's always takes 3 or 4 weeks before reaching me even if he had it registered. sometimes, i do get annoyed with the system! well, i always do the press method. i haven't done the ones you've told me about. but i am going to look for it on the web, too. i might do something nice with the flowers. thanks for the tip!

Here is a website that offers what am talking about with regards to making jewelry out of the flowers... www.florage.com I've been dying to learn this craft because not that many are doing them (probably long process) but it looks like a good business..lol.

I guess it is pretty common to press the petals. I prefer to do this too rather than just wait for it to wilt and dump it. Something so memorable and sentimental should be preserved. There are people in here that will make a bracelet or necklace out of flowers that meant so much to you. Probably I will do that in the future...like anniversary flowers. Or...I will learn how to do it. They got some instructions online. I got a rosary that is made of rose petals. Still smell like roses until now and I got them for years already. While I was there...I was soo frustrated with out postal system too. That is why when I send something...I always have it on priority or registered so I can track it down. Thanks for the comment.

Even before I was a teenager when a suitor gave me a flower I really put it on the altar but if it is came from the one I dearly love I see to it I insert it on my Diary. I kept a diary of our lovestory sort of "the notebook" and it was full of petals of roses and flowers with date that was given, lol! very sentimental. Nice topic.

that's so sweet maribel. i do insert the petals in a thick book so it gets pressed and dried up so i can put them in an album. well, i am sentimental, too. and there's nothing wrong with that. nice to know i am not alone.

Lol...i can just imagine that. I did that too one time with a rose given to me by my crush in high school. Now I still blush when I think of how foolish I was during that time. As I put the petals one by one on the pages of my diary...I was saying..he love me..he loves me not...lol. ahh..to be so young once. Thanks for the comment.

Go ahead and dry them! They'll be beautiful. And good for you for getting roses. I stopped that practice years ago. I guess I am too practical. I used to get them all the time, and I love that people do get them, but I told my husband that it really is such a waste of money, they so overprice them at Valentines Day.

When I was young and was still in high school, I dried the first flowers my boyfriend gave me, but now that we are older and after so many years, we are still together, I stopped doing it since it is still him who is giving me flowers. I just take a picture of the boquet and place it in our living room.

Wow..that is good too...taking pictures of them. I guess drying them would be too much especially you've been together for a long time. Thanks for the comment.
