Somniloquy or Sleep-talking. Do you have homies who do this? |
|
I've had a couple of homies who sleep talk and it's hilariously annoying sometimes when you're in the middle of your REM cycle and suddenly you hear them talk or sing. People said you can ask their secrets and they would be open to you but I am not comfortable doing this and never does. One night I had a new roommate who had to leave very early in the morning and few minutes after she had closed the door behind her, another roommate said, You take care, okay? Bye! I was stunned nevertheless giggled by myself.

1. kgwat70 (10106) | 3 years ago | My ex-girlfriend that sometimes that I would talk in my sleep at night and it made her laugh. I do not remember what she told me that I said while I was sleeping but I remember her telling me that. I don't think that I do this a regular basis though it probably happens more times than I realize. I have never experienced anyone talking in their sleep as of yet.

3. Lostinoz (95) | 3 years ago | My husband and I both talk in our sleep.: ) HOWEVER, we actually talk to each other.: ) One night I can remember waking up and we were both looking for a tool he needed to fix the truck. Apparently it was under the blankets somewhere and we were both looking for it. My husband also sleepwalks and whenever I feel him getting up out of the bed I usually just grab him and pull him back down.
We don't make fun of each other as we both talk in our sleep, but it does make for some interesting conversations the next day.: )

Jemina (2558) | 3 years ago | That's interesting indeed!:-D I have never heard of two people talking unconsciously to each other--I mean doing somniloquy simultaneously which makes it a dialog indeed. I might look it up in the google for similar indents.

| Lostinoz (95) | 3 years ago | I had never thought of it as being unusual.: ) I may do a search myself and find out how unusual it is. This happens probably once every other month or so. Now my curiosity is piqued.

4. aileen527 (378) | 3 years ago | LOL! Yes, my sister & me sleep-talk! It's really funny because when I stay up late or vice versa, I am always surprised when she talks while sleeping. And sometimes I cannot understand what she is talking about. LOL!:-)
| |
| |
|
|
Jemina (2558) | 3 years ago | Did you try asking your sister anything? I read that it's okay to talk to them:-D
| |
|
|
aileen527 (378) | 3 years ago | No, I haven't tried it. But my boyfriend talked to me. Actually I was waiting for him to call but I fell asleep then the following day he told me that we talked last night but I don't remember anything. I always does this when I fell asleep, talking to my boyfriend without anything to remember that we talked! I also asked my sister if we really did talked that night & she said yes. It's really scary when I does this. I do things I don't know when I'm asleep. Our phone is at the sala so I'll go down stairs to be able to use the phone. See, I sleep-walk too without knowing it.:-(
| |
|
|
Jemina (2558) | 3 years ago | Oops, that's really not safe if you sleep walk as well. The thing is during that time you don't have proper control of your action as your conscious mind is asleep. That's the scary thing about it.

6. sophylline (564) | 3 years ago | Hi Jemina! My hubby is like that! He sometimes talks in his sleep. I think this is stress related because he usually does this when he comes home from work late and really tired. Sometimes I would hear him with a stern voice making orders to his subordinates, I suppose. And sometimes, he would say different kinds of food. I guess all that stress makes him hungry, lol:) I've tried talking to him while he sleeptalk but I forget what we talk about the next morning, lol.

| |
|
|
Jemina (2558) | 3 years ago | You do?:-D Maybe you can ask him secret questions eh? oopsss!! It should not cause trouble. Sorry, I was only kidding. Maybe you're right that it's stress related. Well, leave him alone then and let him sleep peacefully instead. Thanks Sophy!

7. cremechese (4503) | 3 years ago | I don't know anybody who actually converses in their sleep, but that's a funny story, LOL. That's nice of you to not take advantage of people in that position. It really wouldn't be fair to question them like that.
| |
| |
|
|
Jemina (2558) | 3 years ago | Oh, Cremechese, thanks for reminding us. You're right. We should not make fun of them or do things that we might not want others to do to us.

8. raijin (6727) | 3 years ago | I'm lucky that my experience from sleep-talkers are now long been gone!;) I have an uncle who sleeps like that, especially when he's drunk. Not only that, he also moves alot when sleeping. We used to sleep on a double decked bed, he's on the lower part and I'm on the top. Whenever he's drunk, he moves alot and utters words that I can't understand. The only thing I do is slap him!;)LoL But I feel sorry for his wife, she's the one now who suffers on his unusual behavior while sleeping. I only try to laugh about it, and tell her that he's gonna be her worst nightmare forever!;)

9. donditiples (710) | 3 years ago | I thought it was somnabulism? Or is that sleep-walking? I forgot. Anyway, my husband talks in his sleep. So does my older son. And there have been times when they actually TALK TO EACH OTHER in their sleep. I am a light sleeper and this drives me crazy! Point in case: Husband: ...get it from the fridge.*mumble-mumble* Son: ...who? Where?*mumble-mumble* Husband: The fridge! The fridge!*&%#$@!!&* Son: ...ok...*mumble-mumble*

Jemina (2558) | 3 years ago | Sleepwalking is different from sleeptalking but they are related. Not all sleeptalkers sleewalk as well. But sleepwalkers sleeptalk as well:-D It's really amusing if two people do that at the same time. If I were you I would record it in my videcam, LOL!

Jemina (2558) | 3 years ago | You think so? I think you have never had a sleep-talker roommate. Actually, sleep talkers are awake subconsciously, which you are right at a certain point. You can read other's responses to this discussion and you will know more.
