I believe that some of the MyLot community is still using dial up services to connect to the Internet... and I know what a pain that can be... slow page downloads can really wreak havoc on your experience...
So I went looking for a viable solution... I wanted to find free software that didn't have the problems of most programs of it's kind, namely, IT HAS TO WORK! :)
Boost Your PC is one of the products that I've found... it's free and the site says that you can use it "without ads for at least 300 days"...
I have a DSL connection, so I don't have any experience with the software... perhaps someone would like to try it out...

I always suggest that you have updated security programs in place before trying any software...
I hope that your experience is a good one! :)

Hi Peaceful..I've downloaded ...something. At the site it has different products in different bundles which I found confusing.
I've opened the 2 emails they send (even more confusing) and found and entered the code for the extended trial. I can open the thingy on my desktop but I get a thing with a dialogue box on top giving me options to order the product, enter the code, continue the trial and something else. It won't go away (I've entered the code successfully). The thing underneath is to increase the speed of my downloads and while this would be good I suppose - I really wanted to speed up my pc. How are the pc illiterate supposed to understand these things?
For instance, I'm running XP and I try to defrag because I'm continually getting messages that my "memory is running low" or "you have insufficient memory to...blah blah" (So??? If you can tell me this why can't you fix it too??)so I go to defrag and I have to run something else first and it says I don't need to defrag at this time. I'm so confused and sick of sitting watching the world go by waiting for my pc to catch up to where I want to be.

My dear friend,
I've sent you a link to http://www.smartcomputing.com/techsupport
It sounds to me like your system needs to be Restored and Optimised and Smart Computing's tech support will help you do just that...
You will also stop calling yourself "Computer illiterate" because they provide all answers in Plain English, so that anyone can understand and retain what they have learned.
Take a deep breath, ask for the answers and you will recieve them...
Never allow a piece of machinery to determine your Intelligence, my friend...
You are much too Brilliant for that! :)

Thank goodness I am not still using dial up. I hated the wait with dial up. Like you, I now use DSL. It is so much faster. It has just become available in our area and I just could not wait to sign up.
