How I became a coffee addict.

Hi...my name is inked and I'm a coffee addict.
It started off simply enough. I was introduced by a friend I used to work with...I'll call him Timmy H. I'd arrive at work early every morning and there would be Timmy brewing up a fresh pot of coffee..
"care for a cup?", he'd say
"no thanks...I don't really like coffee."
"you haven't tried my coffee, it's delicious"
I smile and take a half cup, just to keep hime happy...he's a nice guy....BOOM, I'm awake, I mean really awake.
The rest of that first week I had a half cup of coffee every morning with lots of sugar...to take the edge off a little.
By week 2, I'm carpooling with Timmy and moving on up to a full cup.
By the end of the first month I'm holding the filter in trembling hands and berating Timmy for not filling it quickly enough...I am also down to 1 sugar and have taken to scratching myself regularly for no particular reason.
Three months in, Timmy has refused to allow me to ride in his car any longer and I am onto 2 cups in the morning (BLACK) and 1 on my lunch break....other people at work have started calling me Juan Valdez and asking me where I parked my donkey.
By the end of the sixth month I have volunteered for cleanup duty in the lunchroom and have started drinking the leftover dregs of coffe in the other employees mugs (I have also inadvertently downed a number of cigarette butts and foil gum wrappers which were carelessly disposed in the mugs).
It's around this time that I have my first real injury as I burn my tongue on the coffemaker hotplate after I had spilled a couple of drops there.
From there it's a downward spiral into the designer caffeine (latte's, cappuccinos and frappacinos) world...and a haze of waking up on starbucks sofas surrounded by art books and jazz cd's....I have reached bottom and my friends intervene and pull me back into reality ($4.56 a time for a venti coffee...what was I thinking?)
That was years ago and I can look back and laugh now, but there isn't a day that passes that I don't think of that time with a perverse sense of joy.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off for a can of Red Bull

*stands somewhat reluctantly and nervously speaks* Hi. My name is crazynurse. I am a coffee addict too. I have been drinking coffee since the age of 17, when I began stealing sips from my father's mug when he was kind enough to start my car and de-ice the winshield for me on cold mornings. I used my lunch money for McDonalds coffee on the way to school. I bought the coffee at the drivethru, and it into a thermos I stored under the front seat. I then entered the restaurant with my empty cup and grabbed a refill at the counter and proceeded to school. The thermos lived in my locker during the day so that I could steal a few sips of java between classes. College saw a dramatic increase in my use of the liquid energy as I struggled to study late into the night. I finally graduated and have been a nurse for 25 years. I knew my java use was a problem and that I had reached bottom once I began having problems on the job. The night I attempted take a man's pulse and couldn't feel his for the rapid, pounding beat of my own and he ended up dying was the beginning of the end. Then, several nights later, while attempting to place an IV into a lady's arm, my hand was shaking so badly that I missed and pierced her in the gut. But last night it came to a head. Two patients expired when their EKG alarms went off and I wasn't there to do CPR, I had snuck out...it was only for a minute or two, I was across the street at the diner getting a tall one.....

LMAO thats a good story. I haven't managed to get addicted to coffee that bad yet. I do drink a little from time to time but i still haven't accuired the taste. I like to put milk in mine to kill the taste a little. But i have never drank over a half of a cup yet at a time.

Nice post. You could have titled it 'Coffee Addicts Anonymous'...
Hi! My name is pagibig and i've been a coffee addict for 9 years. It started when i met F***ey. He was a friend of a friend. We were introduced and we took the same class on college. We started hanging out and he introduced me to the wonderful world of coffee. At first it was just a social event, a way to hang out with friends. but eventually i started to crave for coffee, i can't start a day without coffee. I am addicted i'm hooked and it seems there is no way out of this.
My friends, they said i could start my own coffee shop. They would just cut my wrists and coffee would pour out of my veins instead of blood. I drink coffee like water. heck i drink coffee period.
I need help. I am an addict. There are days that I spend my last buck just so i could drink coffee. and when money is short, i get the instant powered ones. I don't even have to drink it. i just take a spoon, get a bit of the powdered coffee and eat it. I am addicted to coffee. Help me. I need help.
Oh wait? what? my time is up? oh it's break time already? what? there's coffee in the lounge area? hmm.. sounds like heaven.
Hello again, for those of you who just came in, my name is pagibig and i am a coffee addict. My friends, they can't help me, they are coffee addicts themselves. We drown 8 cups a day. Like the discussion starter's post, 150($3) bucks for a venti??? I must be crazy.
I need help. help me. wait no. i just need coffee.
hahahha. i'm still a coffee addict. i love it.
