Could someone please explain to me in dummy terms what rss is. I see it all over the place. It is even here. I would like to know what it is. It is on Ebay now too. I am not a computer wiz when it comes to things like this. Please tell me and I am sure there are others out here that are wondering too.

I cute and pasted this from a sight and here is the link that I got it from. Hope it helps. RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds or podcasts. Users of RSS content use programs called feed 'readers' or 'aggregators': the user 'subscribes' to a feed by supplying to their reader a link to the feed; the reader can then check the user's subscribed feeds to see if any of those feeds have new content since the last time it checked, and if so, retrieve that content and present it to the user. The initials "RSS" are variously used to refer to the following standards: Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0) Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0) RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0) RSS formats are specified in XML (a generic specification for data formats). RSS delivers its information as an XML file called an "RSS feed", "webfeed", "RSS ream", or "RSS channel". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(protocol)

It tells that RSS when you have sort of blog you have to use it to publish frequently your updated digital content.which it means when you used to update your blog, your posting will be publish easily..

RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checkins, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way.

Thank you dutchess. So basically when the page changes the rss feed shows the change. If that is what you are saying? Thank you for responding to my question so quickly.

screen shot of an RSS feed - Screen shot of RSS feed on my Mac. Hope this clears up what it is.
Well RSS, stands for real simple syndication. I habe been using it on my computer for a while. I use it to subscribe to news agencies, ebooks, and different sites. This way I don't end up with all of this in my mail Below is a picture of what my feed looks like. I loves it. I get the highlights of the news, it updates about 15 minutes Look at the image I attached. Note the difference in the address.

I can't help much. I've heard it stands for really simple syndication and it is a way of sharing information in a specific format.
