I'm working as a technical support rep. and sometimes a customer would show some sign of relief if they're not routed to india. I wonder why because as far as i know tech support from india is also great...

It doesn't matter to me at all. As long as get courteous service and the solutions I need than I don't care if it comes from Mars. Good help is good help, anywhere.

thats nice, but some people that i encounter even would not want to start troubleshooting unless i transfer him to an american. well that blows me down. as if i'm not good enough to help him

It's a stigma that won't go away any time soon. People from other nations tend to think the U.S. is best at everything (including bad things). The other reason may be that if an American is calling he/she may be pissed off because many people lose their jobs when companies go across the Pacific for cheaper labor. I don't care who, where or what you are as long as I get the answers I need.

thats it dude. if i get a customer that is willing to troubleshoot and accepting my help nicely then in return i would give all out support, even when sometimes its out-of-scope for our support i'd still help the best i can. ask nicely and i'll help you out.

Maybe they show this sign of relief because they find it hard to communicate with tech-supports from India. It wouldn't matter to me if the tech support person I'm talking to is from India or Philippines as long as we understand each other and I could get the answer I need.
