True Tear Jerkers---What Movies Made you Cry? |
| |
| I love watching movies and there are some movies that I just can't help that makes me cry...Yes I'm one who will cry at the movie theathers or even at home if the movie touched me... Movies such as The Shawshank Redemption, Titanic, even the Elephant man were some of my favorites... Men will even shed a tear or two even if they trying to cover it up..I know there are some men out there that do:) So my question to you is what movie(s) really touched you so much that you shed a tear...Why was so special about this movie.... Mine was The Green Mile...directed by Frank Darabont who hooked up with Stephan King. Michael Clarke Duncan (John Coffee) who was convicted of a child murder, yet apparently capable of performing miracles, awaiting execution on the so-called "Green Mile". Tom Hanks plays the prison guard who forms a bond with the gentle giant, and amongst the many moments that tug on the heartstrings, it's the inexorable ending, as Duncan is strapped into the electric chair, which really opened my floodgate of tears... I loved that movie so much.. | | The GreenMile | | | | |

| | I like how you mentioned greenmile! I thought it would be boring because of length my wife wanted me to watch it with her and it did really upset me. I don't normally cry or get a tear in my eye when watching movies but this movie did move me. The only other movie which i remember crying was when i was a small kid and i saw transformers the movie and optimus prime died. (i was only around 6) Kudos ~Joey | | | | | | |

Would watch it before I went out to catch the school bus.. Thanks for sharing and responding... | | | |

| | i agree to what joey stated. i also found green mile boring at the start since the movie is too long. but later on, after some minutes of watching it, i already get hooked on the movie and can't get off my seat anymore. i don't want to miss a thing! | | | |

| | I had to giggle on this one...no offense. But I can't say any different since I cried twice for E.T. E.T. was convincibly real. But you cried on a cartoon? Not to poke fun, but it makes me want to sit down analyze feature films with the kiddos to make sure they can comprehend. Optimus Prime? Ok Joey, you were after all only six. Thanks for the smile...I needed that. | | | |

| | Green miles good and the elephant mad is just tragic - really bad when you think it's a true story and I made have sobbed alittle for the latter, tragic However the worst ever was watership down. Ok it was an animation but wow don't ever let your kids see that. It's a good 'film' very watchable about rabbits looking for freedom (i've not see it for a few years as it goes) but boy is it sad. If you've seen it or see it you'll know what I mean. Goodluck | | | | | | |

| | The Elephant man is a very sad story, do you know they still have his skeleton on display with his head preserved in formaldehyde in a hospital in London? He was tiny I was about 8 when I saw this and he was smaller than me but British people were smaller in Victorian times apparently. And "Watership Down" is a moving one too don't think it made me cry however even when I was a kid. Though the bit where fiver has a vision of the warren being destroyed at the beginning used to freak me out. | | | |

| | There were several movies that made me cry and two of which you mentioned already, "Titanic" and the "Green Mile." It was very sad to see Leonardo sink to the bottom of the ocean after the ship sank. The Green Mile made me sad when that prisoner got the death penalty and it was done the wrong way by that incompetent prison guard. That made me sad too. Another movie that made me sad was "The Guardian", when Kevin Costner died at the end of the movie after saving the new rescue swimmer that he had trained. | | | | | | |

| | Ahhhh, I don't think I've seen that one, But I will check it out... Yes, when the ship sank and they were out in the water, holding on, she woke up to realize he was dead..and had to let him go drift down into the water...I can't tell you how many times I've watched that movie. Because of channels like HBO, you get to see them on and off for months at a time, and if I catch it on, I would watch it all over again... The GreenMile was the topper for me. That movie really moved me and I only watched it a few times as I know I would just buss out crying and saying it's just so wrong.. Thank you for responding... | | | |

| | Oh, The Green Mile, love that movie (but hate to watch at the same time--make sense?) Titanic saw it once wonderful movie,,, just hurts me too bad. Last night my husband I watched "Finding Never-land" with Johnny Depp again. That one makes me cry... I try to stay away from those real heart-wrenching movies! But occasionally one will come along that you just have to see again & again. The movies "Ghost" and "Powder" also come to mind, so many good ones through the years, don't know how I could pick one, I'm just a real compassionate person, and can really get into feeling the hurt! I'm better off with feel good or humorous movies, I think! Have a nice Day! | | | | | | |

| | I know what you mean...I hate to watch it too..As I said in a previous response, I only watched it a couple times...lol I agree with you, I try to stay away, but you just can't help it..lol... Oh yes Powder, I forgot about that movie, that was very sad as well..Yes I teared up on that as well..How those people treated him..gawd...just sad... I understand what you mean about being real compassionate person and my heart always get into the movies IF it's directed with good taste...I always end up feeling for a character in the movie....You have a wonderful also and thank you for responding... | | | |

| | Ghost is so great because it can have you laughing so hard that you start crying and then it just grabs at your heartstrings and the waterworks just start flooding out. It is a terrific movie. Powder is also a great movie that I seem to forget about too often. I wonder why that is. | | | |

| | I'm not one to really cry at movies. I don't need to sit there with a box of tissues. But there are a few that make me tear up and stir emotions. The one that always gets me, even though I know it's coming is in A League of Their Own when the girl finds out that her husband was just killed in war. Tom Hanks delivers that briliantly. Also Steel Magnolias. That's an all star cast and it always gets me too. | | | | | | |

| | my family and friends always tease me about being able to cry easily over a movie. my favorite tear-jerker of all was the titanic starring leonardo di caprio and kate winslet. i also remember crying over my life, starring michael keaton and nicole kidman. if you're not familiar with this movie, it was about a man with terminal cancer and can't accept the fact that he's dying and will leave his beautiful pregnant wife alone. but of course at the end, he was able to accept that he will die. | | | | | | |
