Okay I don't mind buying goodies or whatever my daughters school decides to sell to make money for the school. But today we got a flyer to try and raise money for the American Heart Association, which is a good cause don't get me wrong. But they want each kid to raise $150...I was blown away, that is alot of money. I don't think I am going to even try to get any monney, what do you think? They want the kids to ask for donations from people they know.

I do agree that it is for a good cause but nowd ays kids have so many fundraisers to do it is a little overwhelming. If it is not for school than it is for sports. I can't believe that they want them each to raise $150. I would at least have your child ask the family members if they would like to donate and if they say no well then that is not a problem but you might as well try. What if one person donates, then that money does go to a good cause.

I think that this is pushing the envelope just a little bit too far. Most people have charities that they donate to on a regular basis, and it's unfair to expect them to stretch their budgets further for another one because a child is asking. If the kids are selling things like candy or popcorn or whatever they sell for the school's sports programs or the band, etc. I don't have a problem with it. Shouldn't the American Heart Association be doing its own fundraising?

I think that's a better cause than the school is - just because the school doesn't really get much of the money from those sales they do. But $150 is a lot for anyone to expect from kids, especially if it's just donations. I would rather just give a kid $10 to give to the school / charity, than to buy something ultra expensive & crappy that I won't use.

$150 IS a lot of money but that's just a general goal. I think you should still try and raise some money because every little bit helps. Even if you only manage $10 it's still going to a very good cause.
