for all the carnation lovers |
| |
| i have most of the people do own a garden and are pretty interested in planting one or the other flowers, so i just wanted to share some important planting methods for carnations; carnations should be grown on raised beds so that roots doesnt waterlogs, a soil rich in nitrogen is not suitable for carnations as taht will cause excessive growth of leaves and delay flowering. manured should be dug deep into the soil with super phosphate and muriate of potash 100 gm and 20 gm respectively/ meter square. 15-18 inch space between plants . water them when required and give a top dressing of bone meal at 100 gm/ square meter..disbudding can be done if large flowers are to be obtained... as for seeds : they should be sown in boxes of rich soil with a layer of decayed leaves to retain moisture. the simplest way to multiply them is layering or cutting. if you like to add some really good points you are welcome | | | | | |

| | yes shilpaum , this method you have described is called layering, although i hadnt elaborated it, the other method is quite simple, ie. you just have to plant a 5-6" stem in sand with minimum no of leaves to reduce transpiration, it will root or you can use root promoting hormone. | | | |
