I was recently doing a synonyms word find and "attorney" was one of the words that was a synonym for "caretaker." I didn't actually realise it was also used like that. Some other words that were on the list...(but not advocate..funny enough)...were agent, protector, proctor, warden, preserver, custodian, watchman.
