First doctors appointment yesterday! |
|
I originally had a doctors appointment two weeks ago. But, due to the doctors emergency it was rescheduled for yesterday (also my birthday!). It was the first time I went the the Circle of Life clinic. It was so nice! With my first two sons I lived in florida and the clinic was a typical hospital. Not this place! This was awesome. Some construction was going on but the facility was cool. My doctor was awesome as well. I got many surprises yesterday. First, I will be getting ultrasounds at every visit! Woo hoo! I didn't get that many at the other place. I will also be getting a 3d ultrasound. I heard those are pretty good! Also, there will be a lot more testing, which didn't happen with the other two pregnancies. Also here, they record all the ultrasounds and heart beats on a dvd that you can take home with you. You just have to bring it with you to your next appointment! I can't believe this! Here was the big kicker. I was first told that my due date would be Sept 15. The doctor said that was wrong. That I will be due on Sept 10 and that I'm 11 weeks. Yeah! Also, when we did the sonogram, the baby moved it's hand like it was waving! I was so happy! I actually feel pregnant now. Yes, I had nausaus and all that but, until I saw the sonogram, I didn't feel it!

There hasn't been enough research to show if repetative exposure to the ultrasound waves can be harmful to the baby. Same with the 3d and 4d ultrasounds.
It is pretty cool that you can have a recording of the heartbeat though!

starr4all (2181) | 3 years ago | Excuse me? I think if my DOCTOR thinks it is fine then I will listen to her. It is her job. I didn't ask for monthly pics but if she says it's okay then I will go with that. Geez!

starr4all (2181) | 3 years ago | According to Babycenter.com: "Numerous large studies done over the last 35 years have found no evidence that ultrasounds harm developing babies, or that there's a cumulative effect from having multiple scans." http://www.babycenter.com... womens center: "Serial ultrasounds, or ultrasounds done on a regular basis, are used to check the baby's growth, measure the amount of amniotic fluid, and check the placenta." http://marylandobgyn.com/maryland_obgyn_PATIENT_CARE_Pregnancy.htm

sacmom (5868) | 3 years ago | Just because a doctor says it's okay, you're going to go with that? A doctor does not "know it all". If my mom would have listened to my doctor when I was a baby I would not be alive today!!!
For what it's worth I had spinal meningitis as a baby. My mother and grandmother took me to the hospital and both told my doctor their concerns (fever, not being able to turn my head, etc) and the stupid doctor told them to take me home, that I would be okay. They did that, but I got worse, so my mom took me back to the hospital's ER. The doctor who saw me (not my baby doctor), put me in ICU even though they were was no room and wondered why my original doctor did not do this in the first place. That's how serious it was!
Well, it sounds like you made up your mind. Good luck. I wish the best to you and your unborn baby.

starr4all (2181) | 3 years ago | I'm sorry for what you went through. And no, I'm not just basing it on what the doctor says. I did do my research. There have been tests done and there have been no negative effects due to ultrasounds.

madtownsweety (321) | 3 years ago | Typically Ultrasounds are a very non invasive way to see whats going on in there otherwise doctors wouldn't use them. Dont you think it would be absurd for a doctor to use a device on you knowing that it could be harmful to the baby? Why do you think they dont take you near xray machine when they even think you are pregnant?
