I used to be a big fan of the NIV (New International Version) because it's pretty easy to read and easily accessible. Recently though, I've started using the ASV (American Standard Version) because it's what our pastor uses, and it's easier for me to follow along if I'm reading the same text. What version do you prefer?

Knowing a fair amount of Greek and Hebrew root words, I can say that it's actually the New American Version that seems to have the best translation. It is still flawed in places, however, as are any Bibles that you can get in English...or most other languages, for that matter.

My bible is in NIV version. That's what my friend recommended me before. I only have NIV. NIV seem pretty fine for me and if I can't understand I'll look it up in my Tagalog bible. That was a long time ago. That was when I was reading bible. I don't anymore nowadays.

I have been having a real hard time accepting the modern translations because they have changed meaning I think. I have one minister who translates the greek to us and It makes so much more sense. Even those greek translations of the old testament books may be changed. A lot of the new testament was written in greek so it is I think the closet we can come to what the original text means. I Used the King James version for years with concordance. I feel that it is important that we discover our own beliefs from what we read and not to be dependent upon others translations entirely. I pretty much stick with my King James version but I also read the other texts available that were not included in the Bible that was agreed upon at Nicene.

I personally just read the King James. I don't like translations, because it is someone elses translation. Reading the Bible should be what you get out of it. If you don't understand it, eventually you will get it. To me reading the Bible is an individual personal experience between you and God.

I like the New World Translation because it's easy to read and understand. Plus it's the version I've been using since I was nine, so I know where everything is, and it's comfortable.
