Well, some long distance relationship do work. I think it depends on the individuals involved in the relationship. If there is strong chemistry and trust between 2 people in long distance relationship, it is possible to maintain the relationship. I have a friend who has this kind of relationship. She lives in Indonesia and the guy who is also Indonesian lives in Netherland. They have been in the relationship for more than a year. At first, it was just chatting but later... it got more intense. They communicated everyday via sms. I asked her why she wanted to be with the man. She said that she felt he was the ONE. SHe felt comfortable talking to him and he really cared about her. Until now, they still wait patiently till the day they meet.

Because you can't talk as often as you like, everything becomes magnified. Therefore, make a decision that you won’t fight over small problems. All couples fight some of the time, but when you are in an LDR, save the fighting for the really important issues.

yes they can work, my husband and i spent the first 3 years of our marriage 400 miles apart, but the feelings have to be real, if there are weaknesses, the distance will emphasise them blessed be
