Anyone out there training to run Rock N Roll or have you done it? I'm in the middle of training for it and am curious about the course and music. How often are there bands playing? How many people would you say enter this race? If you've done it, had you done another marathon previously and how did this one compare? Thanks!!

I ran the RNR marathon in 2000. It was awesome, you're gonna love it! If I remember correctly, there was somwhere around 20,000 runners in the race. There was basically one band playing every mile. All styles -- rock, country, jazz, hip-hop, everything. The music really helped, especially in the later stages of the marathon when things weren't going as well. The course was very flat, to slightly downhill, especially the first half. I can hardly remember any rough uphills. I've also run the Chicago marathon and another small one. The Rock N Roll Marathon definitely is comparable to Chicago. Not quite as many people, but I'd say it definitely holds its own. Good luck with your training and in the race!

That's awesome, thank you so much. I'm really looking forward to it. My last marathong, and first, was Nike in San Francisco, which was a ton of uphills! So I'm looking forward to a bit more flat course. But still training just the same. Good luck on any event you're doing and thanks for the advice.
