Yeah. That one is difficult to break. Mario Lemieux scores 50 goals in 44 games and is probably the closest you can get!

I have to say Acosjo I do feel sorry for you. If you are truly an Oilers fan. RYAN SMYTH GETTING traded OUCH!! that is the hard and soul of Edmonton. If he does return this summer it will be a brillant move, but if not I would start looking for Kevin Lowes house and do something about it, because this can not happen again to you guys. It is bad enough you might have to life in Edmonton but after (Weight, Pronger, Comrie, Guerin) and now Smyth. All I have to say is OUCH to all Edmonton Fans. I think I will make a discussion topic about this.

Good point. Mario Lemieux once had a 44 point game streak that is abruptly put to stop because of his back injury. No one has ever come closed since.

Actually, I should change my vote to most records held or shared.

I picked that one thinking that if the game evolved too much, that no record would be safe. Should that ever happen, too many people would hold too many different records to dominate the game the way Gretzky did.

I will vote for 11 consecutive 100+ assists season.

Never mind 11 consecutive 100+ assist seasons. Few players actually have 1100 assists.

Gordie Howe only had 1049.

Without looking it up, I would suspect that only Mark Messier and Adam Oates have 1100+ assists.

Ron Francis, Raymond Bourque and Paul Coffey all hit that mark and Adam Oates came 21 short. I also didn't realize how close Steve Yzerman and Marcel Dionne had come.

Other than Wayne Gretzky, only Bobby Orr and Mario Lemieux has ever had 100+ assists season, and both of them have accomplished the feat only once.

Bobby Orr and Mario Lemieux are a class above other Hall of Famers, and then there is Wayne Gretzky which is in another class above!

I think Crosby and Thorton have a shot at one day hitting the 100 assist mark - especially Crosby, unless he just peaked this year.

Yes, I think either Crosby and Joe Thronton can hit the 100 assist mark. But, I doubt either of them can hit it 11 times consecutively!

Thorton has no chance in hell, and Crosby doesn't have much of a chance.
