| |  I don't have experience in free av progs...only one I know of is AVG
But I can recommend you some 'paid' good av progs, you should try...
1. NOD32
2. Bitdefender
3. Kaspersky
you give them a try...the trial ones are free...

AntiVir personal edition
theres also a free version of Bitdefender...

| |  You should try Avira AntiVir. Its rated better than Avast and it doesn't run nearly as slowly as Avast. It isn't as complicated and bloated either.

| |  I use avast now. I have been using it from last 4 days. Altough it might seem to be too less time to form an opinion but still I like it. It has some really cool features. According to me AVG Free is CRAP. Sorry to all AVG fans but my experience with it has been horrible. It let in viruses which ultimately forced me to format my system. Try Bitdefender if you like but dont forego Avast, it is excellent.
