Post partum depression?

Does anyone suffer from it? I did with my 1st and 3rd child, but not my second. I always wondered if that said something. I was in high school when I got pregnant with my first child, and I was not happy to be preg. My second child was not planned, but was celebrated. I was o happy to have him. My third child was a ortho evra patch accident baby. My husband and I were having problems. Money was tight. So I wonder if it was enviromental or just plain mental? Any opinions on the causes of ppd? And share your ppd stories.

No I didnot suffer from this but sometimes I felt that my husband is suffering from this. But now every thing is ok. I have heard many stories about this on TV and what I know is that it is not in your control. It is a harmonal diorder in your brain. But still always try to be happy during pregnancy

I was happy, just circumstances made me weary of happiness.

I think that you are right that your situations contributed to your condition. I was so glad to read in your response to the other lady that you got help for it. So many women try to figure things out for themselves and the problems get worse. After both of my births I kept the number for MOM (Managing Our Moods) on the fridge in case I needed them. Even when you are experiencing great joy at the birth of your child there are times when all you want to do is cry.

Well its very possible that your depression stemed from your situations. I know i had it bad with my first and was medicated relativly quickly for it. I have a long history of depression. Things were not going all that well for my husband and myself at that time. Im pregnant now, due in 3 or so months, and although i have a few twinges of sadness here and there, i havent had an prenatal depression like i did with my first. Perhaps ill be lucky this time.

I hope you don't have to suffer through ppd again. I was medicated quickly the first go around, but with my 3rd child it was not caught until about 3 months post partum. I was then medicated for 3 months.
