dog kennels

I was wondering if you was building a simple dog kennel or dog lot,would you leave the floor be as dirt and grass,or put something else down.Concret is not what you want to use.What would you do?We have built one and I am after of it becomeing to muddy.And it's only for one dog.

We use gravel becuase it doesn't hurt their feet and if it does it's not that much. And it doesn't get hot like concret does in the summer. It stops them from getting their feet muddy then coming into the house with that mud. Plus it keeps the flees away becuase there not sitting in the dirt all day then bringing them into the house.
