Why Iindian police uniform is "Khaki" in color?  

in our country,watchmen,gurkhas are wearing khaki color dress as their uniform..they are safeguarding us and our things..likewise police are also safeguarding us...i think this is the reason for police using khaki color dress as their uniform.....

It is since the time of Britishers when they were ruling India. Perhaps to make a distinction between themselves and Indians.

i am unable to find out the exact reason, but what ever i was able to find out i am sharing with you

Khaki (hindi=dust colored), is yellowish brown color and is most used as military uniforms. it was the color of uniforms introduced by the army regiments in the 1880's,

the irish soldiers in the indian britain army usually stained their white clothed uniforms with dirt, dust and tea. and for this probable reason this dirt colored fabric was chosen,and still today this khaki uniforms are still weared by militaries not only in india but by other countries as wells, this color also helps you to camouflage, and probably due to this reason it is also used by the indian police

i cannt give rationale behind this but i may think that 'khaki' colour is accepted and continued after british. they may dont want to waste their psychic energy in deciding the colour of uniform . or they have continued this colour like other culture of british.

I believe they dont just choose color because they like it or because they want to standardize the color of military somehow they strategically use khaki because this is a good color to camouflage during battle.

I think Khaki colour can't get dirty easily this may be one of the reason behind it. But I don't like this uniform, I also used to wear khaki uniform in my earlier days of AIRFORCE life, thankgod now it has been changed into blue colour. I think Indian police should also get a better designed uniform.

i think it was introduced by the british and that color has been adopted as it is by indian police after the britishers left.
