Do you care about your star rating? Why?  

It is just an indicator on how well your wisdom is being received by the world. Another way to validate your worth as a human being judged by your peer so to speak.

I don't bother to check my star rating and while I am typing this response I couldn't honestly say what it is. I just love reading and responding to my friends discussions and the star doesn't really matter to me. I am just here to enjoy myself.

I think it is like Sally Field saying, "You like me! You really like me!" at the Oscars. We just want to be popular or at least respected.

Another reason is that we don't know how it is calculated. Do they subtract negatives from positives and that's the rating? Or do they figure it from all the possible ratings you could be getting? Each time you post a comment, everyone who looks at it could rate you. It's kind of mysterious.

it doesn't bother me too much if it's high or low.I just keep posting.because if a person don't like what you say in a discussion he or she can rate you negative and your star can go down to a lower number.it is not about if you have a quality response to a discussion.so the star rating I don't worry about too much.

The reason , pride and prestige.

Everyone deep down wants to be liked. The star rating indicates (as far as I'm aware) how much people like your responses here on myLot - the more people that vote your responses as + (positive) rather than - (negative) the more your star rating goes up, or does it? It's all quite secretive as to how it works, maybe it also goes up if you get lots of "best responses" for your responses, I'm not sure. BUT saying that, I've seen some excellent responses from people who have 2 or 3 star ratings. I think some people are a bit more blunt in their responses and this might earn them a - rating but they might be posting honest responses which some people might find a bit too honest? Not sure, but I guess we shouldn't worry too much about the star rating or we'd be writing just nice stuff that people want to hear just to get our star rating higher.

I would rather be honest and say what I really feel than be sugary sweet and not actually always offer my best advice just to get my star rating higher :)

I know it doesn't affect my earnings.

I don't understand the rating system yet. When I hit 100 posts suddenly the star appeared and it came as an 8. Natutrally it would be nice to have it stay at at least an 8 but I'm not sure what effects it one way or the other. Is it number of posts, responses, votes?

Yeah, it doesn't bother me too much about what my star rating is. I just enjoy responding to discussions. I think it's also nice to make some good friends on here, and the ratings and money are just a bonus really. If you are deadly serious about making money on here then I am sure you could quite easily make a lot, by if you can't, then just enjoy the experience.

I really care about stars rating. Just like the score of the exam, the more higher that we get the more better. I know that the starts rating system doesn't impact any earning, but I care about my activity in myLot.
