Relationship ring, do you have it where you live?

Where I live we have a sort of commitment ring, when a person is dating on the one year mark or over they get each other a "dating ring" I was wondering if this exists everywhere, what do you think about it and tell me if you have one. Please state where you are if you answer any of these. Just so I'm clear it's not a wedding ring nor is it an engagement ring, it a "commitment" "dating" ring!

Promise Ring - Sometimes a guy will give his girlfriend a promise ring before proposing to her.
Just like in America, us Canadians call such a ring, a "promise ring". Usually this is given to the female by the male to show her that he's really serious about the relationship and it's basically just a stepping stone before the engagement ring comes along. I don't hear of promise rings much anymore, I wonder if people are just deciding to wait till they're ready for engagement.

Here both the guy and girl wear it, it's a symbol of love and commitment, general rule that it's yellow gold and it goes on the right hand. There is also superstition around it, they say you should never let anyone try it on or it's bad luck for the relationship.

In America we have a promise ring. It is confusing however, some say that it is to show that you are dedicated to the person you are with and others say that is just means that they promise not to sleep with anyone else. But your dating ring pretty much sounds like it has the same basic meaning as a promise ring.
