How to maximize your Palm Treo 650 | | | | Hi, I would like to know how people are using their Palm Treo 650? Or any of other PDAs for that matter. I owned a Treo 650, and so far just using it for the phone (cause my area doesn't have GPRS), and sometimes as a GPS viewer with a bluetooth GPS to navigate around. I think it is an amazing gadget, and I'm looking forward to find or search the other capabilities it might had. Please share your views, experience, comments. | | Oh, my! I've got a treo 680, a really good friend has the 650. We're both absolutely in love with our treos! Definitely perfect for maintaining your contact list. Dead easy to separate everyone into different categories, such as personal, work, etc. And you can copy an existing contact so you can just edit the next person who has many similar details. And their birthdays! And all the other stuff you can have in notes.... Diary feature is good... but I've downloaded Datebook 5, which allows you to have all these icons associated with events everywhere. Datebook 5 allows you to group entries into categories, lets you put repeats, tie up an event with your contact list, etc. Definitely worth getting! Now, Icons... you need to get IconManager. Download that, and you can download all these hi-res icon files as well. Edit the icons into one main file using IconManager. I have a downloaded program called Happy Days which I use to grab the birthdays I've listed in contacts, and have it put an event in my datebook. Happy Days can note that event for one year, or 100 years. But seeing as I tell it to update my datebook on a regular basis, as I add more birthdays, I only get it to notify for one year. Games... well, there are a whole host of games you can download, depending on your taste. And both my friend and I are have a lot to do with the medical field. Loads of software there that we use frequently too! Seriously, there are a whole load of programs you can download to customise your treo so it is perfect for you! Sooooo... some links, perhaps? www.palmblvd.com www.freewarepalm.com mytreo.net www.handango.com www.palmgear.com Should be enough to get you started! | | | | | | | lot2nabila (171)

| | Thanks littlemoo for the inputs. Actually I've been using Treo650 since a year ago, now I'm thinking to change to 680. Is it worth it? I agree with you on all the features on Treo650, I've been using Palm PDA since 1996 (from Pilot5000, PalmIII, Visor, and now Treo), and have bought many softwares for it, so yes I think Treo 650 is a cool gadget (although I have a wish that they upgrade the digital camera capabilities). One particular software that I like is the SplashID where you can store all the informations that have passwords, weblogins, pin numbers, etc, very helpful. My other favorites is the TomTom navigation software. With a bluetooth GPS, I can travel around Europe easily. Now I'm considering to change to Treo680, or should I wait until their camera gets better? I envy the camera in Sony Ericsson K800 (or whatever it is..), but can't live without my Treo. | | | | littlemoo (173)

| | Oh, no problems! I just adore my treo, too! I'm an old hand with Palm PDAs too, from when the m100 was around. Actually, it's still my back-up if ever anything was to go wrong, as it only uses AAA batteries! I wish TomTom would support Australian maps! OK, apparently it does, but you have to buy the America/Canada software first, then pay for Australian software on top! Fine if I was going to America in the next few years to use it, but I'm not! GRRRRRRRR.. That's work in progress for me! Is it worth the upgrade? Hmmm... honestly, i'm not convinced. Sure, there's no antenna. But effectively, that's the only real improvement. Everything else appears to be minor tweaking, to be honest. There's still no Wi-Fi, the camera hasn't changed. The navigational buttons are slightly different. The stylus is actually crappier. The lower third of the stylus is metal, but the rest is plastic, so it feels flimsier, and ti deven bends slightly! I'd say it's the cheaper version of the 650, but essentially not much of an upgrade. (I have to admit, I still prefer the 680 because there's no antenna, however! But I was upgrading from a very broken 600, so naturally I'd upgrade to the 680 rather than the 650.) So from the 650 to the 680 isn't worth it, in my opinion. My friend is considering the 700p when his 650 dies. However, seeing the 700p isn't even available in Australia, and may not even get here at all, it's kind of a mute point, right? Anyways, I'll stop rambling. I hope that helps a little! | | | | Drakhan (232)

| | The Treo really is perfect for keeping up with almost anything. I use mine to keep up with my diet/exercise program and record my blood pressure as well as playing games, casting horoscopes on the fly ... Honestly, all my work and hobbies fit in there, and it's always with me. Add in a two gig SD card and it also makes a great MP3 player. I replaced my iPod, my Palm m505 and my old cell phone with it. | | | | | | | Palm Treo Accessories Cases, Headsets, Chargers, Data Kits, Batteries, Bluetooth, & More. www.discountcell.com | add comment | | | |

| | You can googling for the best price of 2GB SD card, they were about US$ 15 - 30. But you might want to check whether the Treo600 can handle 2GB SD card or not. I know it's working with Treo650 since I use the same configuration, but I've heard somebody having problem with their Treo600 to reads 2GB SD card. You're welcome to PM me anytime..:-) | | | | | | | Bluetooth Headset Deals Plantronics Headsets at Factory Direct Prices + Free Shipping! Plantronics.FactoryOutletStore.com | add comment | | | |

| | I just got my Palm in the mail yesterday, and guess what? After I charged it, it wouldn't turn off, and it couldn't be activated with my wireless service provider. I got so mad. Luckly the company I got it from is exchanging it for another Palm that hopfully works. I was lucky that I didn't buy a skin I designed, the USB cradle, and a bigger memory card... Like I said I hope this new one works and is able to be activated... Hopfully I'll get it before my birthday too. :/ | | | | | | | lot2nabila (171)

| | Did you try to do hard reset? I'm sorry but I don't understand what it means when you're saying couldn't be activated with your wireless service provider. As far as I know, Palm Treo doesn't have WiFi on them. Or do you mean something else? | | | | piggiehandcuffs (335)

| | I got a Palm Treo smartphone or whatever it's called. It's a Palm Pilot PDA and phone combined into one. I went to Verizon to activate the phone, but It wouldn't activate at all. :( | | | | | | | Bluetooth Headset -57% Bluetooth Headset at top prices: Bluetooth Headset up to 57% less! www.Bluetooth-Headset.news72.com | add comment | | | |
