Troublshooting JVC GR-D50AA DV Camera

My camera operates in everyway, records sound and operates perfectly in playback mode but does not display any picture, the message on the LCD is 'LENS CAP' even when the lens cap is off. Is there any possible means on resetting this malfunction, or is it a more complex problem?, if anyone knows or if it's a common and simple problem with Camcorders please advise me on what I should do.
