2. kathy77 (6867) | 3 years ago | Yes I heard this very early this morning I cannot believe that he is dead either and from a heart attack,. He was fantastic and I loved all of his music. I bet you are glad that you went as that is the last time to see him and you are very lucky that you were so close to him and took some pictures of him, I grew up with his music through my teenage years. Yes rest in peace Billie we will never be the same without you. My radio 2GB has dedicated the station to Billie today.

caramello (2172) | 3 years ago | It is sad kathy but must say hard to believe that as we watched him leave the venue that it would be the last time! Such a great talent and from what I saw that night his success had not affected who he was as a person.

caramello (2172) | 3 years ago | I am so glad I made the effort to organise ourselves and go and see him as usually during a week night do not always like to drag hubby out as he has to get up early for work, so it was meant to be and I am sure an experience I won't forget in a hurry. Also glad we remembered the camera as well!

5. 14missy (1896) | 3 years ago | I heard this sad news this morning. I thought of you as you had put up a discussion about going to see him and wondered if he had done that concert yet. He was a great Australian Legend. There are so many that are passing away. I suppose it just shows our age.....So glad you got to see him again.

shaz6611 (723) | 3 years ago | but 60 is still tooooo young to die, there is so much more of life to live

|
caramello (2172) | 3 years ago | Yes missy it is a little weird to think I put up a discussion about going to see Billy and then my next one was about his death! I am so glad that I made the effort and booked as quite often I do say "I would like" or "I am going to" and it does not happen for some reason or another. But this time it was meant to be!

7. ossie16d (6332) | 3 years ago | This was such a shock caramello and when I heard the news I thought of you seeing him only last week. That fact that you got some photos of him with your husband is really wonderful and I am sure you are pleased that you went to see him. We saw him at a Club many years ago now, and once when he was with the Aztecs (that was during the time pre-child and in our "mis-spent youth".).
He has had such an incredible career, fallen off the wagon a few times and once commented in an interview that he was one of the lucky ones. He was talking about the life they led, with drugs and alcohol etc, but then one day he changed and left that part behind. For a number of years he was actually performing at private events, i.e. birthday parties, wedding etc, where the people were generally from our generation. We met a couple who had him perform at their party and said he didn't charge a lot of money. I think it was during the time he was re-establishing himself here in Australia.
RIP Billie

caramello (2172) | 3 years ago | You are so right ossie we are glad we did make the effort to go and see him although I felt like I was dragging my hubby along as his "tastes" are a bit different to mine as far as music goes! lol But I could see he enjoyed it too and now on the long weekend I am dragging him once again to the same venue to see "Chain" have you heard of them? His life was quite amazing but even though he did do a lot of "mis-spent" things in his time it did not seem to change him as it has others, Ossie Osbourne for an example! Don't tell me you chose your nic. name from his! lol

8. The_Eagle_1 (677) | 3 years ago | A true tragedy, as he was one of R & R 's legends. I feel for his family as they seemed to be very close knit, even with his daughters living in the USA. A loss for the music industry too as he was planning another "Sunbury Festival" (Equivalent to another "Woodstock"). RIP Billy Thorpe!

caramello (2172) | 3 years ago | It is a true tragedy Eagle and my goodness if he was planning another "Sunbury" would I have gone? Ummmmmm, maybe, but would not be too keen to sleep under the stars this time and would wear loads and loads of sunscreen as that was one time I did get severely sunburnt. Also would hope the "toilet" situation had improved! lol Well maybe will just have those memories and think of what could have been!

10. retardedrugrat (3665) | 3 years ago | Billy Thorpe will be sorely missed.
I hate how the greats always seem to go of something like a heart attack or something sudden.
I'm glad you and your hubby got to go see him, and got some pictures as well as some cherished memories.
May his legend live on.

caramello (2172) | 3 years ago | He will be sorely missed retardedrugrat and know doubt by many. It was a great night and we will have that with us as we travel down that road to "old age" together! lol It seems to be coming quite fast these days! lol
