The spiritual side of painting.

That was exactly what I was asking myself for some days after I painted it. One of them looks like a jester to me.

What did you feel in creating it?

Sorry for the delay. Stunned. I love the flow of paint, and I'm really on the brush's side when painting, trying to see what it can do. Then, this character... I'm still thinking about it, months later.

It really is getting fascinating, haven't had two impressions which are anything like mine, or each other.
Nice to meet you, too, always glad to meet a witch.

What's intrigiung me is that nobody has come up with the same thing, much like a police interview. Add the this the way this painting came to be, and it's quite a show, so far.

I went back and relooked at you picture just to see if I could see what everyone was describing and I still don't see it. It is facinating to see how people look at things. It would make a good science fair project.

Also interesting is the fact that human beings are so geared to facial recognition that sometimes they see faces whether they're there or not. Which sort of brings up what other recognition skills people use looking at things like this.

My father was a professional artist, and I grew up surrounded by his references, as well as his work. Leonardo, Chas Addams, Thurber, I had a virtual art college in the living room, and two parents who could talk art, literature, and music round the clock and not repeat themselves.

Inspiration, definitely, and painting's done this to me before. When I was 28, something said "Paint!" and that's where my avatar comes from. Now, I gather, I have another mission coming up. Ah well, the neighbors can find somewhere else to live... Seriously, start painting, and it will teach you.

That other presence, by the way, is the one that's had me thinking hard, for months.

Perhaps stop thinking, especially thinking hard, you could stop the flow!! Ahem.

I have a feeling you know what the picture is telling you, your mind is just having a hard time believing it. Okay, I'll stop being the seer. I admire people who can create like this. Enjoy.

Chuckle, chortle. So far the flow's been going for decades, and seems to be increasing. Yeah, this is the sort of thing where about ten years from now I'll probably figure it out. It's happened before. "Self as occupational hazard", I guess. Wonder if I can get insurance...

Ok, I don't know if it's because I'm working on decorating my Church for Easter, trying to create a work to place behind the choir hanging in front of the baptismal pool or what...but if I turn my head in a certain way I can almost see a man (?Jesus) bent over carrying what would appear to be a cross. There is a lot of foreground obstruction--perhaps onlookers.
Maybe I need to take a break...but YOU, my friend, keep up the great work!

Yet another new perspective. Yeah, that primary figure is interesting. It was so obvious when I painted it that I just left it alone. All I did was smooth the excess paint around it. The rest of it is largely an exercise in painting what was already there.

Nobody has seen any of the rest of the painting in the same way.
