| | windows vista is too complex i thought the idea was to make things easy for new users and people with little computer knowledge. I had to try and sort out a few technical problems with vista recently and most of the stuff wasnt where it is on windows xp and its hard to find things even for me a computer engineer so imagine how hard its going to be for a new user. stealing idea's isnt really here nor there theres lots of people all over the world stealing things off other peoples websites, but either way i cant see the makers of MAC OS sueing microsoft they wouldnt really have a leg to stand on. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, Microsoft is a stupid company. They sell the product without giving the manual not the hardware manual but the features manual. If you ask why Apple did not sue Microsoft, maybe you should get back to 1990 when Apple sue Microsoft but they lost. Why did Apple sue Microsoft ? because Microsoft steal Apple's (or exactly Xerox) first in the world Graphic User Interface. Well this is the story. in 1983 Steve Jobs and Steve Woznia is looking something to put in their Aplle computer that no one has. The figure out that Xerox is making a new GUI. So they went and meet Xerox. They ask Xerox for cooperation, to allow Apple use the GUI and in return Xerox will have 1 million US shares in Apple. Xerox agree. Next Jobs went to Microsoft and ask them to customize the GUI. Microsoft accepted, and Microsoft is Apple's first third party. And somehow Apple knew that Microsoft is making its own OS using the Xerox Star's GUI basic. And they really released it. So who got the basic skill of stealing ? | | | |

| | From what I understand Apple didn't "steal" the GUI from Xerox, Xerox let them use it, or licensed it to them or something like that. | | | |

| | im not surte what your issue is here but so what if they look the same? theres lots of software and even games that look very similar or almost identical it happens all the time!! microsoft is stupid really but also clever to be domination most of the computer market. apple OS may be better but it has not got great compatibility, there is a lot more software made for windows than there is for MAC. thats the only real reason microsoft are dominating. | | | |

| | I always get annoyd by people like Idlewild. He has 3000 posts but never read post carefully. I never post that Apple stole from Xerox... Here's what I post "in 1983 Steve Jobs and Steve Woznia is looking something to put in their Aplle computer that no one has. They figure out that Xerox is making a new GUI. So they went and meet Xerox. They ask Xerox for cooperation, to allow Apple use the GUI and in return Xerox will have 1 million US shares in Apple. Xerox agree." Please read carefully or I rate people like you down. | | | |

| | Microsoft is dominating partly because of illegal antitrust activities, which caused them to be sued by the U.S. govt. Apple isn't thinking of suing MS, as far as I know. | | | |

| | This is my respond to totalguy's latest response. Just to make it clear. Actually it's not about the issue of compatibility. Apple sold more Personal Computer than PC at early of 1980s. But Apple's price is almost 5 times than any Intel based PC. So people chose the cheaper one. If Apple sold the computer at the same price and have GUI feature at the 80s, I'm sure you will never heard Microsoft now. It is the issue of price that make Microsoft beat Apple on the market. | | | |

| | No Idlewood. Actually Apple already sue Microsoft back at the 1990 when Microosft launched Windows 2.0. The sue is about stealing and using GUI from Xerox. But somehow Microsoft won the case. And it makes Apple never going to sue the Microsoft. Wasting time maybe. Don't forget that Microsoft has release Microsoft Zune that they claimed will beat the iPod, well let's see. | | | |

| | IBM and Microsoft were smart to license to other manufacturers, which brought down the price of PCs--since there were many lower-cost alternatives to buying a PC from Microsoft. For a few years Apple licensed its OS to other companies, and those companies made some good models. But when Jobs came back to Apple he stopped that, which I think was too bad. He decided he didn't want to make the Mac OS more widespread if it was going to cut into Apple's profits. Of course by then it was too late, Apple had already lost the battle. But I would prefer to have a choice of makers, not just Apple. | | | |

| | I was responding to totalguy, he said he couln't see Apple suing Microsoft, and I was agreeing with him. I wasn't saying that Apple hadn't sued them in the past, just that they weren't going to do so in the future. | | | |

| | this is a reply to your reply to me. maybe apple did make more sales in the 80's but we are talking about windows vista now aren't we? in 2007 i would expect a lot more pc sales than apple ones although iwont say they are because i dont know for sure. microsoft seem to have got on top and stayed there, theyre always releasing updates even on vista and they supposedly took years to make vista and they still have to update it!! Obviously they didnt do enough testing in the first place! | | | |

| | Only small amount of people know about MacOS. This happen because Microsoft has penetrated the market for 15 years. It seem that MacOS has been erased from history. Some people may think that Apple is a small company and never ever gonna beat Microsoft. One thing that Apple did wrong. Their Mac OS only works in their own machine. but it makes Apple more exclusive. | | | |

| | I like Pogue's style, it's funny. You'd think for five years of work Microsoft could have disguised it's copying/stealing/ borrowing/etc. a little better! I liked Pogue's comparison of the chess game boards. | | | | | | |

| | They stole ideas without a doubt but its not as bad as people make it out to be, thre bringing the great features of os x to vista and the general public. Apple hardware is expensive compared to the equivalent pc hardware thats why I set up this blog http://totallyfreemacmini.blogspot.com/ | | | | | | |

| | Yes, Microsoft brings MacOS interface to public, but if the public did not know and they will assume the Apple who stole Vista's GUI... Good luck with your plan to buy Mac Mini | | | |

| | Microsoft steals ideas all the time. IE 7 is a joke. It just stole a stack of ideas from Firefox. Vista stole ideas from Mac and from Linux. That whole "Cancel or Allow" crap was a Linux security feature. The only difference is that Linux makes you type in your password for every menial task. With Microsoft you just click "allow". Boy that makes me feel secure. | | | | | | |

| | Actually it's not Firefox who has tabbing feature. It was Opera browser. Firefox adapted it and now they beat Opera. | | | |
