How Do You Make Your Skin Soft? |
| |
| As I age, I find that my skin is not as soft as it once was. I have found that sugar scrub helps to soften it. It is very expensive to purchase. I paid over $15.00 for about a cup of sugar scrub. I only did this once before I decided that I could make it myself and save money. Homemade sugar scrub is as effective as commercial I was not Aware that sugar cane produces glycolic acid, one of the natural alpha hydroxy acids that exfoliates the skin until I did some research. When I found out all the benefits of sugar, I was immediately made up his recipes. Sugar Scrub Ingredients equal parts of white cane sugar and vegetable glycerin to moisten the sugar (I used olive oil since I was out of vegetable and it worked just as well) Asmall amounts of aloe vera gel, vitamin C crystals, or anything healing that dissolves in water I just opened a coupld vitamin C up and used it. 1 or two drops of essential oil if desired (orange and lavender work really well) I just now made some and did not use any essential oil. The essential oil does make it smell nice but it is not necessary to make it work. Combine the ingredients in a bowl. Scoop some of the scrub onto your hand and massage gently onto your skin for a minute (the scrub will actually tighten onto your skin like a masque). Leave on for 3 to 4 minutes before rinsing. Let me warn you in advance that you'll want to use this sugar scrub on your entire body. I started on my face and soon found that my skin felt so soft that the skin on my neck felt like sandpaper, so I used it everywhere. I do not recommend using it on fresh shaven legs or underarms. I did not shave the nights that I used this. What kind of things do you do to make your skin soft? | | | | | |

| | For the almost the same expense I go to Wal-Mart, Kroger or Rite Aid and buy a tube or bottle of Eucerin body lotion where a little goes a long way all over your body. In fact, it probably costs less than all the ingredients you have to muster for your scrub and will last longer. If you have severe itchy or caked dry skin, get the Eucerin Calming Creme. Remember... being frugel does not necessarily mean you have to make it! | | | | | | |

| | I have tried Eucerin and it does not work for me. I have spent alot of money on good brand lotions and creams and this scrub works better for me than any of the lotions | | | |

| | I have a hard time finding corporately produced lotions that actually moisturize. Eucerin has some type of alcohol listed as one if it's first five ingredients, so I don't trust it too far to actually keep my skin soft and moisturized. Alcohol dehydrates! (Just ask anyone who's ever had a hangover! LOL!) The products that are available that have quality ingredients? Cost an arm and a leg. Especially cosmetics. I tend to agree with the original poster that in cases such as these, it costs less to make your own. | | | |

| | I moisturise my skin day in and out..lol I moisturise as soon as I'm out of the shower which helps keep my skin smooth and really really soft. But your sugar scrub sounds good too, but village I really don't think I have the patience to make my own scrub...lol Will keep this for later in case I change my mind:) | | | | | | |

| | That sounds like a good idea. I'm going to try it. I do use lotion, but a scrub helps remove dead skin cells, and lotions just cover them over. Thanks! | | | | | | |

| | This sounds like a really cool recipe to try. I know my skin gets so dry in the winter months where I live and it seems like there's not enough lotion in the world to help. I'll have to give this a try. Where do you come up with all of these great recipes that I've seen you post. You have so many great things posted that I want to try. | | | | | | |

| | I have used that sea salt scrub before, but alas, it too is very expensive. I will definitely have to give this a try when I finish up all the store bought stuff. Good thing I can save the jars! | | | | | | |

| | I like your idea because I once bought a sugar scrub and it did work wonders but was really expensive ... I will have to try yours As for me, to prevent my skin from getting too fry after a bath, I always had salt and a tablespoon of olive oil to my bath while drawng it... it really does help make the skin softer ... but I assume that just like me you probably don't take bathes that often ... I usually only have a bath when I need to rewad myself and it helps me unind and relax ... but it is like every 3 months or so LOL and more in winter ... but don't worry people I do have showers though !!!!!!!! :P Thanks again | | | | | | |

| | I know how listen and read or I mean just read hehe, I fill my tub once it's filled i pour some baby oil at least a half a cup. Then you can feel under the water that your skin is so soft, thats when I shave. When I get out i dry myself and put butter lotion. In the morning you feel just like new as if you were born with that soft skin. It's really great. | | | | | | |
