Potty Trianing Problems

Key thing to remember: They understand more than you think. This is what I did with my daughter. I let her walk around with nothing on and let her have an accident and she got the message real quick. She was fully potty trained sghortly after she turned 2. Did you know that some cultures train their children at 8 months old? I think that is ridiculous but if it can be done at that age then we know it can be done at 3. Good Luck!!!!

My twin sons were 4 1/2 yrs old before they were fully potty trained. I tried EVERYTHING, but they just weren't ready. From experience, I can assure you that forcing your daughter to potty train will only make it take longer.

The systems I used were to have them go with no diapers so that they could feel wet, and hopefully recognize the feeling BEFORE that.;)... I would sit them on the toilet every hour to have them try to go.... I would give them rewards for trying, and we did a special song and dance each time they actually got some pee in the toilet, etc.

Dr. Phil has what he claims is a surefire method, where you can train your child in one day... but I never did try it. It involved the every hour sitting on the potty, and praising them for doing it... and having a special someone call them on the phone to tell them how proud they are of them (like near xmastime, get someone to portray Santa on the phone.. on the episode of DrPhil I watched, one of his staff called to pretend he was Thomas the Tank Engine).

There are also tons of checklists available online that can tell you whether or not your child is indeed ready to use the potty all the time. Have you tried finding those? They might be helpful.:)

In the end... always keep in mind, that at some point, your child WILL use the toilet all the time. I used to be told by a friend, "Don't worry... have you ever heard of a university student still potty training?". lol! That helped to lighten things up for me.. hopefully it will for you too.:)

Does she like her potty chair? Did she help pick it out? Any chance of her having a doll that needs to potty train? They make all kinds of dolls that come with their own potty chair? I know silly but it might work.

OH have you tried literally going with her? I trained my 2 year old by accident that way. I was always going due to a bladder problem and she just sat on her potty because she was very bored. Could this idea work for you?

I was told that no matter what every child will potty train. Don't give up. If it helps, my daughter always pee-ed her in training pants. I gave up and saved money by buying marked down undies and tossed them if her "accident" was to great.
