Picasso Paintings worth at least $66 MILLION STOLEN... | | | | I was watching the news this evening, and I could not believe that 2 Pablo Picasso paintings were stolen. And, they are worth about 66 Million dollars (or £34m, in Euros). I did not believe that someone could steal the paintings from a museum, but, as it turns out, they were stolen from his granddaughter's Paris apartment. Who could have planned this type of thing? They would have had to know that the two paintings in the museum, are copies, and that the originals are in her home. I wonder if the thief looked up the granddaughter, or already knew her. This is amazing, because if those paintings are not found they could be sold on the black market, and not be found for years...especially if they are saved in private collections...there are people that would pay for them, such as wealthy collectors. Here is the article that I had been reading, after I saw the brief on the news. http://cnnstudentnews.cnn... | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | Amazing, and this reminds me of the movie, The Thomas Crown Affair." A rich and bored businessman pulls off a daring heist in an art museum, using state of the art tools to get the job done. I'll bet a wealthy collector paid big bucks for this job to be pulled off. | | | | | | | western_valleygirl (804)

| | On the news they mentioned the movie also, and I was thinking that whoever bought them, had to have paid way more than what they were worth. It is just amazing, really, because they are worth so much...unbelievable. | | | | | | | Rent To Own Homes Program Hate Renting? Bad Credit? Call Us! | | One reason why I don't want or need anything of any real importance in my home. Just common things that make me happy and easily replaceable if need be. Hope that there was insurance. That would be really necessary for items like these. Will be interesting if there is a follow up in the event that they are found. We shall see. | | | | | | | | | | Apartment Rentals Find Local Furnished & Unfurnished yellowpages.com | add comment | | | |

| | I know, I am not a big fan of is hiw work, I prefer different styles of art, such as French impressionism, and a few others...abstract is not that special to me. The fact that the paintings were stolen, means that perhaps a buyer or buyers were lined up, so that the paintings could be unloaded quickly...so, there must be someone that would pay a lot of money for those paintings...if, there weren't buyers lined, then, perhaps the paintings were sold for very cheap prices on the black market...it is all crazy and amazing...I wonder why she didn't have really good security... | | | | | | | Luxury Buffalo Apartments The Granite Works (Allentown), W/D In-Unit, Gated Parking, $895/up www.graniteworks.com | add comment | | | |

| | I would think if a wealthy collector bought them on the black market, they would know they were stolen. This would be buying stolen property and the colllector would be in trouble with the law. The thing is, if you steal something like this, you need a market to sell it in to realize any money. I don't see how a collector could get away with having stolen property hanging on the walls. Eventually the paintings would be discovered as stolen, I would think. | | | | | | | western_valleygirl (804)

| | That is what my husband said, however, I was watching a program about how, collectors know who has what stolen artifacts and they all have a pact. Also, those that do collect art that is stolen have private "art rooms" that they stroll through, and never let anyone in, unless those people are trusted...they hoard all the art, for years and years, under lock and key, and they do not care that they are probably the only ones that see that art. So, there are really crazy people who do that, and don't care that they are breaking the law...this is definitely a lifestyle I am totally unfamiliar with. | | | | | | | Local Coupons 1 ridiculously huge coupon a day.
