Do you take VITAMINS? |
| |
| A new study, done in Norway was released recently, that states that vitamins actually shorten the human lifespan. They warn that taking vitamins and supplements, especially Vitamin A, and E,and Beta Cerocine, have shown through numerous tests to reduce lifespans by by 16% 4%, 7%, respectively . They say that the reason people have shortened lifespans is because taking vitamins, unnaturally, leads to a disorder in the natural immune system, because their body did not go about getting these vitamins through natural, healthy, food, and so they are more likely to live less. I have not taken vitamins in a long time. Whenever, I feel that I have not had enough vitamins in my regular food, in a while, then I might take one. However, the reason I had stopped (other than having no time), is that I had heard long ago that there was still uncertainty about what effects vitamins might have on us, because they were still fairly new, and research was still in the early stages. | | | | | |

| | I'm taking supplement instead, protection for the liver and heart, with the condition of our environment, with this pollution.. we need to be more conscious about our health. We're aging too fast and these hazards added to the process, dang, I missed the old days where air is still clean, rivers are still fresh. | | | | | | |

| | I believe that specific viatmins, are better than multivitamins, and, if they are recommended by our doctors, than that is good. However, there are some, that we can actually overdose on, so it is good to find out what our bodies neeed (as I believe you have done), before we just take anything. I know that when women are pregnant, doctors have them take folic acid, however, I have heard, that they recommend it for women all the time...I do not know if that is necessarily appropriate, but, these things can get so confusing...I do miss the clean days (which would be hundreds or years before my time, lol). | | | |

| | This is very interesting! I have taken a multivitamin tablet plus iron for many years. In the past year, I have eaten less food, cutting back on sugar, starches, and red meat. I find that I don't need the vitamin anymore. | | | | | | |

| | I do not take vitamins tablets on regular basis. Only during sickness which is very rare take few pills. Vitamins requirement can be completed from various types of food. But the people prefer shortcut method, so problem arises. | | | | | | |

| | My husband is the same way, he will take vitamins when he is feeling sick, but, he and I agree that when people do take shortcuts, there will be problems that arise. | | | |

| | I believe that most of our illness comes from the mind. The way we think. If we are always worried about our health we attract bad health into our lives, but if we think positive, like I am healthy and feel great then we attract healthy and feeling great. If you have not seen the movie "The Secret" I would suggest watching it. It makes alot of sence to me. | | | |

| | I do take vit C from time to time.... And pertaining to the study you mentioned, I would say... take it with a pinch of salt. I won't say they are all not to be believed but do you remember the times when conflicting viewpoints can arise over the same issue, even many years apart? Like last time, milk is supposed to be beneficial for all the calcium and all. Now they are saying that taking milk actually hampers calcium. Alcohol used to be bad, now they are saying it's good in moderation. Last time low fat diets was the rage? Now? Low protein? No. Low Carbs? No. Low calories? Ha! There are many more examples and one can rattle on and on. So I would say, just try to have a balanced diet. Eat in moderation a bit of everything (rat poison aside! :P). Hope this helps. | | | | | | |

| | I say do whatever makes you feel good. Who cares what the studies say. Eat how you want and enjoy life. Life is too short to sit and worry about what is good for us and what is bad. It all comes down to what we think is right for us. I believe in the Law of Attraction and if all you do is worry about your health, you are going to attract bad health. So just let go and enjoy life. | | | |

| | As in all things we should strive for balance. Vitamins and minerals are indeed among those things that can be of help to us when our diet or physical condition calls for it. I heard that anything you take you only absorb about 80 per cent of it anyway. Seems like a waste of money on some level. I have often charged that any scientist can can do a study to back up their belief. So I wonder often when these studies come out what their motivation is. | | | | | | |

| | That is another reason why I stopped also, I just could not take vitamins regularly, and I did not have a regular meal plan either, so I never took them, because I missed too many meals, and ate at different times. I think, that it is better for us to eat healthy, and then if there are things that we need to take, because we are low in them, then that is fine, but I do not want to take multivitamins either. | | | |

| | I have always wondered if this was another health craze hoax or if vitimins really can make a difference. I was taking them over the last several years, but not recently. I don't know if this study is accurate or what all the dynamics are, but I would bet that for some people, they actually lived longer by taking vitimins. The results say that lifespans were reduced and that was probably for the majority. This is another of those never ending questions that has individual answers. How can anyone know for sure how much vitamins and minerals they are getting from eating or taking supplements? I think it depends on how much is actually absorbed into the body. And how can you measure that for every individual? Finally, I am beginning to believe, without a doubt, that health is a matter of how we think. Healthy thinking will result in healthy living. I believe that health comes from a state of mind as much as from anything else. As long as we do little to detract from being in a healthy state, like smoking, over-eating or drinking, etc, we can live healthier lives. I also believe the mind has the power to cure many diseases and sicknesses. | | | | | | |

| | I've tried to take vitamins a lot of different time over the past 10 years or so. I could never keep up with taking them though because of bad stomach upset and other side effects related to my GI tract. I've always had people telling me that I should keep trying to find one that works for me because it's important to take some sort of vitamin everyday. I had no idea of the negative effects they could have on a person. Now I don't feel so bad about not taking them all of this time. | | | | | | |
