remake sholay? "yes" or "no"

I quite agree with this idea that movies like Sholay and Don need to be viewed repeatedly as the old versions are pretty much modern till date. I've seen even the budding youngsters fanatically watch movies like Sholey and Don in its old form. So, remake of such films is simply a SPAM effort. I just can't agree with the idea of Remaking an old film keeping the original story line mostly the same.
Better to watch an annexure to an existing block blaster movie. In Bengal such experiments have been done with success. Now let's see if Bollywood can adopt that healthy practice.

Sholay movie has created history. Not only each character, but even the dialogue is very famous along with acting style of the actors. Naturally people will compare with the original and very difficult to get a good name unless all of them ex-ordinarily act. It is alway easy to make a movie than remake it. That is why a movie, which is taken in a language, when remade in another language, usually flops.

it can happen but it can be a good film but I am sure the old sholay will be better.

Yes I too feel that sholay cannot be remade. It is such a wonderful film that it could be made only once. What a dream dun it had in the mid seventies! Sanjeev kumar's role can never be replayed by anybody else. That is for sure.

I have a big hope that the remake of sholay is done by the master ram gopal varma..so no doubt about it's quality...
Sholay -the film of the millanium.But i wonder what factor of the film strike on the people..The story,stars or the different mode of the film style..I also wonder why this formulae never won again..Why other films in the same category fails to get much response..The sholay runs 5 consecutive year in a theater.All this are amazing and unbelievable news for me...
Sholay is the best when consider the popularity...
