Rainforests---do you have one in your country?

Rainforests are magical places on earth full of life and beauty. They are home to millions of species of birds, animals, and plants. These forests are the worlds natural treasures and most of them are found in places near the equator. The largest though are found in Brazil, Central Africa, and South Asia. Unfortunately, rainforests are getting smaller every year, and this is true here in our country, Philippines. Farmers burn down trees for land, large companies cut down trees for their valuable wood, and other companies build mines near the forests. Is this also happening to the rainforests in your place?

Rainforests yes we do have a few in my country, they are really beautiful. These rainforests are protected by our government so that no one can destroy them and so therefore they are preserved, and anyone damaging the rainforests will be dealt with serverly.

Unfortunatley we don't have anything that exotic here in ireland. However Cork is fairly temporate because of the gulf stream and people have created microclimates that grow palms and bananas. I guess that is as close as we can get to a rainforest.

Although it is not tropical, I believe the forests of the northwestern US are considered to be rain forests. Properly called deciduous rainforests, I believe. Not nearly so large as the tropical ones, but still home to all kinds of plant and animal life.

There is a rainforest in Canada too! But I live in the US, so no rainforests here. I would love to visit one someday, but they are burned and cut down

In Brazil there are plenty of protected Rainforests, but not all ones can be protected. I have also seen protected rainforests in Argentina and chile. It is very important to protect them. Many unique animals and vegetals live there. We have to allow our children and children of our children to see Earth as it is. We have to protect life for them.

I agree with you, Rexy leigh.. rainforests are really a wonderful creation only a few countries have. It's great diversity of life is really beautiful and important...I believe some plants found in tropical rainforests can help us make some medicines...and these rainforests also make the soil stronger and can also help our climate. But unfortunately, the rainforests here in the Philippines are slowly deteriorating due to some people who constantly cut down trees for some personal or business purposes. I just hope there will still some rainforests left for our children and grandchildren.
