Are you a public medical patient?

If so, how long do you have to wait to be seen byy a consultant? My brother just received a letter saying he will probably bee seen by a consultant in about 10 months. I have hear dof people having to wait four years for Ear Nose and Throat appointments.

As far as I know if your waiting more than 6 months you are entitled to go private or abroad and the bill will be payed for you, Not sure if it works this way to see a consultant, but it does for surgery, Maybe the citizen information center can give him advise.

We use the public system and have to wait donkey's years. It just took me 3 months to get areferral to physical therapy. I have waitied 8 months for an MRI. It takes 2 weeks to get a blood test if I misstime things at the doctor's office. I think the medical system here is appaling and shameful.
