1993 Nissan 1400 bakkie sideshaft external bearing replacement. How?

I need to replace the side shaft outer bearings in the diff on the bakkie. They don't seem to budge. I don't have a manual. I have opened up the diff rear inspection plate and noticed that there are "center" bearings with half bearing caps holding the side shafts in position. How do I get the half shafts out and replacing the outer bearings without damaging the centre support bearings of the half shafts?
