I may be buying a car next year and so thought I'd ask everyone's opinions here. Do you buy used and save a few dollars or do you buy new and have the comfort of a warranty and no mystery of how your vehicle was cared for prior to purchase?

Well when i buy a car it's always used. Buying a new car costs you money as soon as you drive it away from the showroom. You loose money on it's value were as a used car will keep it value for atleast a year. Also your not sure how a used car has been treated, well looking at the paint work for scratches and dents gives you an idea, also the interior if it's realitivly clean no burn marks on the seats or any rips then you can be fairly sure it's not been abused. Lastly the milage always try buy a car with as low a milage as you can for obvious reasons.Thats my run down of a used car. Remember jus because you buy a new car it dosn't mean it won't give you problems

I would never buy a new car as it is so bad for the environment to get something new when you can get something as good 2nd hand. The other consideration is that they lose a lot of value as soon as you drive them away.

I've never owned a new car and I never will. I watched car experiences with my parents, sister, family, friends, and have seen used is the way to go. Fortunately, my dad is an ace at auctions and he can spot a deal a mile away. He's bought with my money 4 cars in my lifetime since I was 16, and he has never gone wrong. If not for a wreck I'd had, I wouldn't have needed him to buy 4 cars! And if you are nervous about previous wrecks the car has been in, try carfax.com. It only costs a little to find out a lot.
