I've always thought that pinatas looked like a lot of fun but they can also be a bit dangerous (a child blindfolded and swinging for candy ..haha). Have you ever attended a birthday party with one? Do you think it's worth the money? What are some of the pinata designs you've seen?

I think it adds a lot to a birthday party to have a pinata..it is alot of fun for the children and yes most parties I have been too does have one.I agree they can be a little dangerous, if there is no adult around, but the parties i have been to usually there are a lot of grown ups around to make sure the children are heading in the right direction of the pinata, and so far none has got hurt...They can be fairey in expensive if you shop for candy at a discount store...I would be careful of small hard candies, they are easy to choke on for small children....

I've attended plenty of parties with pinatas, not just birthdays. With young kids, the trick is to get one of those foamy bats - never a stick or bar - and let them swing. If someone gets hit accidently, then it wouldnt be so bad. Make sure you fill the pinata! I've been to parties where the hostess forgot! LOL!

Yes it is a very good idea. My daughter had a birthday party for her daughter and she had the pinata, and it went over really well. The children all loves it. No one got hurt either. It is very worth the money.

I can't imagine that it would be a good idea for a kids party. I mean, think of it, a bunch of kids, one of them blindfolded and swinging a stick, while the others stand in a circle around said kid, and not even a wide berth to the circle. Seems like a beating waiting to happen, and then mad parents to boot.

I went to a blue and gold banquet that had a pinata (cub Scouts). Dangerous is right but they settled that by giving the boys spongy sticks and large hands like you get at baseball games and everyone wearing glasses had to remove them plus they had to wear big football helmets (borrowed from the highschool). It was a hoot, after about 30 minutes of trying and trying (cubscouts never tire of hitting things) the cubmaster stepped in dressed as a "bat" and knocked the stuffing out of the thing. That was a lot of fun! I don't even remember what the Pinata looked like!

We had one at my sons birthday and the kids had a blast (7 & 8 year olds). I got Sponge Bob from Wal-Mart and it was $10. They sell 2lb bags of a candy and toy mix for $4. For the price of one pinata at Party City I got a pinata and the stuff required to fill it.

Hahahah! ya knoww..I never lied the idea of using them, but for different reason..Its seem wrong on soo many levles to smash the crap out of a donkey..dora..or what not..it teaches serious violance in beating the hell out of something to see what the insides look like! HAHAHAHAHHH!!
And also that grwat chanvce that someone will end up getting seriously hurt with that bat lol..they are just a baddd badd idea lol..

I have had pinata's at my daughters birthday parties. We had a butterfly one at her last party - it was one of those that you need the bat to break it. The girls had a blast - but it tool forever to break since they were little and didn't have the strength. The year before we had a heart-shapped princess one that had strings coming from it. The girls took turns pulling a string and one of the strings was the one to open it. That was more fun!!!

For my niece's birthday party a couple of years ago we had a Spongebob pinta. It was great. I loved seeing him get hit. I've seen others as well, usually what ever is in for the kids at that time. I think it's a lot of fun for the kids plus it gives them a chance to burn off some energy. So long as you keep everyone else away from the swinger it should be safe enough. It's only when they get too close that problems can happen.
