This is the time to check and change your smoke alarm batteries, check your escape plans and that i understand, but the firefighter on the local radio station also stated that the smoke alarm should be vacuumed out...i have never heard of this before...does anyone actually vacuum their smoke alarm? I mean it does make sense cause i am sure it gets dusty, but the thought just never occured to me lol
What about the rest of you?

I'm in the UK and Im sure we were all told to check our smoke alarms not that long ago. I am in a council house and the council are by law meant ot maintain things like that and since they put the things in they haven't worked. I'm a bit of a firestarter as well so I just hope I am always on the ball and cathch it beofre it spreads too much.
I do not think many poeple do actually vacuum inside there alarms but you are probably meant to do it in case it doesnt go off in a fire and then the company cannot defend themself saying it was probably dust clogging it up.
I wonder if smoke alarm companies get sued if the alarm breaks and people die in a fire.
I think it is such a good idea that they put out a scheduled date of checking it because so often years go by and you don't even think about maintainence.
Enjoy your hoovering.
