 I am trying to earn a little something on the side with my blog. But I am seeing very little traffic. Can anyone help me please - point me to resources on bringing traffic to your blog/website or offer me tips?

make sure that you use your blog address as your signature in your emails. Keep it updated to encourage people to return.
Register with search engines and exchange links and keep changing content so that you get high in the search engines.
Try listing on technorati.

Most traffic exchange sites will make you surf member blogs and earn credits from it. With blogexplosion, you can do that too or earn credits the fun ways like...
1. shoutbox - where members get together to chat ans at random times we get to play games to stand a chance to win credits
2. battle of the blogs - create a battle or pick a battle listed to win extra credits at the same time, gain visitorship to your site!
3. blog explosion radio - yes, they have their own radio channel and every hour, they will revel mystery number where you can key in the website to earn free credits
4. rent your blog - rent a space on your blog for other members to advertise their website on yours. Its fun and you can earn more credits if your site has a relatively good traffic flow!
