I really like the couch and loveseat I was given as a hand-me-down, but it is so worn that my knees meet my chin when I sit on the couch. I'd like to try my hand at reupholstering it all. Especially since I saw a pair I really liked- the most comfortable couch ever- and it was $8000, $5000 for a matching chair!! Rather than putting this stuff at the curb, and leaving the mess to the professionals, I am so tempted to try doing it. what made the ones I liked so special is that they were down filled. Back pillows and the upholstered parts alike. Heavily down filled. Feedback- I need feedback, please?

Wow its been 4 years and you have not gotten even one response. Thats nuts. Oh well I get to be the first :) I have never reupholsterd anything. I have a dining room chair set that is very old and needs to be reupholsterd but its so much work that I just havent felt like doing it. Plus buying the material to reupholster the the chairs is costly. I'm not sure what design I would want to go with as far as color wise. Probably a green shade. I got slipcovers off of freecycle. They dont fit that well because they go with couches that have much puffier arms but they cover up my ugly stained couch so it works good enough.

I was just at wal-mart and saw a faux suede slip cover for a couch that is brown and matched the sectional I have. It was $50 but I was like I really love it I have to buy it. I figured it would make the living room look so much nicer. I got it home and tried it on my couch today and it is to big. I am so dissapointed. What did you ever do with your couch did you reupholster it?
