| 1. kyekye (94) | 3 years ago | Hi there! I have 3 daughters, and I started potty training them all at around 2 years of age. I think that age is when they can start to understand what its all about. Perservere with it, even if it takes a long time to get it right! Good luck!!!

2. tammyr (3436) | 3 years ago | Usually around the 2nd year. I have heard of as young as 3& 4 months, and as old as 4&5 which is ridiculous if you ask me, and you did.LOL If you think the child is showing signs of knowing they are going to go, then it is time to start. There are some excellent sites out there to help you if you do a search on potty training.

3. silvermoonmyst (832) | 3 years ago | I started my son around 18 months. We had him potty outside in the bushes for fun and he was fully potty trained by 2. It worked for us. He still likes to go outside sometimes, but he uses the toilet now. I dont think there is an avarge age. You just watch for any kind of signs that they are ready and go from there. We always took our son into the bathroom with us so he knew what it was for from a young age. He knew that mama sat down, and daddy stood up. And he stood to pee from the start. Anyway it worked for us.

4. potatobutt87 (239) | 3 years ago | i was watching a talk show while i was pregnant, and it was about potty training, this woman talked about how she would take her newborn, and when she knew he/she was about to go, she would hold them over the toilet!! i thought it as CRAZY i had never heard of it, but whatever works for the parent!.. i have a friend who has a son thats 4 1/2 and hes STILL not potty trained, i think its ridiculous. she doesnt try hard enough, she doesn't discipline him when he goes in his underwear. she still has him in diapers! i just cant believe it, but im also not the parent, there might be other things attached to the reason why he wont go on the potty

6. kathyj (2475) | 3 years ago | Every child is ready to potty train at a different age. I have heard of people starting potty training at 9 months old becasue they didn't like to change diapers but the average age is about 2 years old. If your child is not ready wait a couple months and try again pressuring them to much will just make matters worse.
