I believe honesty and loyalty are important and also someone who does not mind if you don't keep in contact all the time. Some friends I have will get the hump if I do not phone or see them all the time. A true friend is someone you know will always be there for you, but doesn't demand 24 hour friendship.
I have a great friend who I do not see very much, but when I do, its as if we saw each other only yesterday!!
We both have our own lives to lead and cannot possibly be in each others pockets all the time. That is a true friend!!
And of course someone who doesn't b*tch!!

I do not look at traits because they can deceive very quickly not all people can show traits well they can be the best person in the world to your face and behind your back cut your throat so I look for people as people not traits I can get along with just about anybody I have never denied to be friends with anyone as we all have problems so I reach out to help if I can so don't judge a friendship on traits base it on if you can get along with them or not .

I think that honesty and selflesness are very important traits in a friend. I could go on and on with traits that I think are important like respect, kindness...
