Carolee, on the day of 9/11 I was here on the west coast in my bedroom. The Lord had spoken to me and told me to tell my housekeeper to not come over. But at this time I knew nothing about the attacks.
So I called her and told her not to come and she asked me if I were watching the tv. I told her no and she said that the Twin Towers had been attacked in New York City.
So I hung up the phone and turned on the tv and saw the perfused smoked rising from the towers. I was deeply shocked and concerned because my to elder daughters has just gone to NY In June and were still living and working there.
I prayed and asked the Lord to protect them. And then I called them and couldn't get an answer from them.
I got upset and called my x-husband and told him about it and he also called trying to get intouch with them.
I was also concerned and worried for the others involved in the attaack.
I called some of the emergency services in and around NY and requested that they help me find my children.
But praise God after three days I finally got in toudh with my girls because of the persistence of my x. And I cried and asked them why hadn't they contacted me to let us know that they were alright. But they just said there was no reason for them to call me because God had protected them.
I was fuming and happy at the same time.
I called their God mom in California and told her that they were safe and she both fumed and was happy at the same time also.
Praise All Mighty God.

When 9/11 happened, I was still getting ready to come to the US. I was awoken with a phonecall because some friends were going back to the US that way and they had to return back home. It was so devastating to watch and I was worried about my husband because he was already in the States. Everytime I remember those images on tv, I felt the pain and the lost. It was etched on my mind that anything can happen and we have to live to the fullest because we never know what will happen next. I always make sure I tell my love ones I love them and wherever I go, I let them know.

I promised that I wouldn't take life for granted anymore. I started looking for another job where I wouldn't have to travel so much and be away from my family and friends. I wanted to spend as much time doing things Ienjoy and being with people I care about.

i am not from the US and i will never understand the extent of lives lost that happened that day. i can only feel bad but it will never compare to what you feel.
i was shopping in hong kong that day with my dad. we were going for a vacation. as we were walking the streets, the news was being played. a lot of locals were watching. my dad initially thought it was hong kong because of the buildings. when we learned that it was in the US, we still couldn't believe our eyes. we were glued to the screen and we couldn't walk. i cannot imagine how some people endured that incident. the thought that you cannot do anything to stop it.
i'm so sorry for what happened. i hope nothing like it happens ever again. the promise i made and not necessarily made during that day was to always respect others. we are all human beings and i believe we could get along at some level.

When 9/11 happened I was in Toronto visiting friends. We were all shocked by the sad events. For some time we couldn't believe it. But I did not make any promise that day. What was your promise about?

We sat at home since we were homeschooling and watched the plane fly into th tower over and over. It did not surprise me and used it to reinforce my teaching to the kids that they have to be aware and prepared for trouble to happen. When the power went out we still had our solar and wind and we taught the kids about living in such a manner as a good thing. The only promise was that I would give my kids the skills it will take to live in a wild world that is impersonal and necessitates survival skills. I teach them how to be prepared if their city or building is attacked. We make plans in that event.

I was at home when it happened. I was asleep, and I came out of a deep sleep, sweating. I couldn't figure out why. It was earlier than I normally got up, but I couldn't go back to sleep, so I went ahead and got up.
I got online to check my email before my first class, and a good friend of mine told me to turn on the news. I was shocked. All of my college classes were cancelled that day. Our dean's brother and sister in law both worked in the WTC so of course he was pretty upset.
I didn't really make any promises that day. My fiance at the time was in the Navy. He was on the 911 carrier and I couldn't talk to him for several weeks. It was hard, because I didn't really know what was going on with him.
My husband joined the Air Force because of 9/11. He was still in high school when it happened, but he joined after high school to protect the people he loved.

Hello carolee, I don't live in the US. I just found about the 9/11 at CNN. I was horrified to see the actual footage. It was a scene that I know will forever embedded in our mind. I was in the family living room and just stay glued to the news. I can't imagine the people involve in the tragic accident. I realized then that we realy will never know when we will die. As a religious person, I prayed for the lives lost and made a solemn promise to be a better mother.

I happened to be sick that day and stayed home.I rmember crying while watching the news. I just could not believe it was real. I did make a promise too. 9/11 is a day of prayer where i keep all the families that were affected by it in my heart and my mind. I pray that there hearts will slowly start to heal and they are able to move forward.

I was at work and remember trying not to cry every time someone talked about it. The horror of that day will live with us for always. The families that lost loved ones that day can't forget so why should any US citizen be allowed too. I personally think Sept. 11 should be a national holiday and that it should be a day to remind us all what we went through that day.
I called my kids and told them that I loved them and I swore that I would get a job where I was not at work 70 or more hours a week and that is what I done.
